Before this movie, I never had an interest in musical theater at all nor any movie musicals. After watching this movie, I am now interested in watching other movie musicals and I LOVE this movie. I had no idea who Jonathan Larson was and now I am fascinated by his story and am inspired by the way he viewed life and gives me a new outlook on life. Every single thing about this movie is an A+. The story, the directing, casting, producing, music and choreography of course! I have watched it 4 times now and will continue to watch because it really is just that good. Also I’m a HUGE Spider-Man fan and wanted to see Andrew Garfield and now I’m in love with him. :)

@@parthmalhotra5124 just because you didn’t love him in Spiderman NWH (a movie in which most people agree he stole the show alongside Willem Dafoe) doesn’t mean his performance in Tick Tick Boom is not one of his greatest works to date, receiving audience and critical acclaim, and already winning the Golden Globe for it. This year’s Best Actor category will probably be stacked and Will Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch are also coming in strong but Andrew is basically a lock for a nomination and one of the top 3 candidates for the Award because of Tick Tick Boom.

If this portrayal by Andrew Garfield in Tick, Tick…Boom! doesn’t get the Oscar for this role (or at the very least a nomination) it will likely be because of the the film being a musical and/or because it was a Netflix release. That would be an absolute travesty!!! This is one of (if not) the best musical film adaptations, and Garfield’s performance in the lead role is key to that.

I can’t help but to draw comparison between Jon Larson’s journey and Andrew’s own journey as Spider-Man. Jon dedicated himself so hard to producing his work and making his dreams come true like he was running out of time but in fact his best work and his big break were yet ahead of him, even if he never got to see it. He carried on with the attitude of just get to work on the next one and it did eventually pay off. As far as I can tell, between the three Spider-Man’s Andrew was definitely the most passionate and committed to the role, and despite the dedication that he put in, his tenure was sadly cut short and we moved on to the next one. Little did he or any of us know that his triumphant return and the true grand spectacle of Spider-Men was yet to come.
