Tier List: Numenor, Arnor, Rangers

While isildur can't use the ring on his horse, what he can do is move 5 inches, dismount, put on the ring, and finish his move as a charge. Very OP. Love the list as always boys, personally I'd put the D4 dunedain with spear above a ranger of the north with spear because it's 5pts less. Killing it

Isildur can't use the ring while on horse, your house automatically bolts and you have to roll thrown rider table. You can dismount, put the ring on, move to your target with the ring.

@@NoobsandMen in a tourney in the Netherlands last weekend he killed the enemy leader in two out of three games and killed the assassination target in that game as well. He is a nightmare to play against on the assassination scenario as the only non-leader hero.

Nah the D4 on dunedain doesn't come up much at all. If you are playing them right your opponent isn't getting in to combat with you unless you want that combat to happen, and if you want that combat to happen then you should be in a favourable position. Yes D4 / D5 is the difference between a 5 and a 6 to wound with a S2 bow, but you should be in cover most the game and your priority target is to kill their bows, using might where needed to make that happen. I've played games with those lads where there's not been any combat all game. Would I do that in a friendly match, No, at a competitive tournament, Yes I just don't see the value in ranger of the north. for their pts what they offer just isn't enough for me. For every 5 RotN I get an extra Dunedin and an extra might, who do the exact same job just cheaper. -Sean

The love for Hobbit archers is adorable but you never said something about the weaknesses F2, S2, D3. Ranger of Arnor are F4, S3, D4 and Move 6" and have 24“ rather than 18" bow. In my lists i play one hobbit archer with a war horn, that's it. All my other archers are Ranger, all with spears if possible with points limits

Ah but you're missing the big benefit for getting nearly 2-1 exchange on hobbits to rangers when packing them in, Arnor already has a f4 battle line, they don't need the archers to be fight 4 as well. Totally get the argument, but absolutely pros and cons for both -Liam

Doesn't stop him from doing it mate, because Nasil is hand and a half he can choose to use it two hand or not, just means when he does two hand he loses the defence bonus from it for that turn of combat. Absolutely worth it to have that option tho, plus the shielding special rule is fantastic on a 3 attack model! -Liam

There's a lot of S4 armies.. And a lot of S2 bows. Dunadains suffer a lot from horde shooting. Then again, it really depends on what the Meta is.

There are lots of S4 armies but if you play it right their S4 doesn't matter because you're not letting it anywhere near you with out being confident your gonna win the fight. Horde shooting is scary but have your force split up, hide around Terrain and move in such a way that your opponent has to shoot through their own guys, call heroic shoots/accuracy all to minimize your opponents shooting. As a Dunedain player there really isn't much that scares me. Other all heros armies tho now that's scary 🤣🤣 -Sean.R

Well cause it's not an official army you cant just take Rivendell bows, you have to adhere to the 33% rule for the Rivendell side. But hero's wise I think you're in a really good spot mate. -Sean

A captain of Numenor is 5 points more expensive than a captain of Arnor, because Numenor captain has got Courage 4, rather than 3. Courage 3 is as bad as an Orc captain. Hatred (Angmar) is nice, in my opinion Blood of Numenor (resistent to magic) is better

No doubt about it the Numenor captain is better, but I wouldn't write off the Arnor one, he's still incredible, especially when in the fearless bubble from Arvedui

@@NoobsandMen yeah sure thing. I like playing Arnor Captains. F5, S4, D7 is awesome. You guys said "for no reason the Arnor Captain is 5p cheaper" - well there is a reason courage 3, rather than 4 like i said. I just wanted to point that out. Which captain is better demands on the army list, allies etc. That's more a subjective discussion. How GW counts stats is pretty simple. 5 p for 1 stat in F, S, D and C for example. So 1 Courage more usually means 5p more on a hero. For warriors it's usually 1p. Of course there are outliers. Don't compare some hobbit heroes with lotr heroes and don't compare elves with anyone, it will get you mad 😂

Yep! Arnor doesn't need the fight 4. Their basic troops are fight 4. Rangers in that army are only there to shoot really which in a "good" army doesn't last long. Whereas in Minas Tirith theory basic troops are only f3 meaning after shooting rangers with spears can come in and spear support providing fight 4 to the fight. Plus Boz banner bringing them to fight 5 absolutely makes them S tier -Liam

100% mate.Gondor is the superior faction. I would love a complete overhaul of numenor just so they are in line with how they are in the lore. -Sean
