to be honest, after looking at original ff7, everything that Cloud does prior to losing his identity were to get Tifa's attention, which I think is that he has feelings for her since they were kids. And from what I can see here, she feels the same since they were kids.

In the OG it's implied and basically stated by tifa that prior to cloud leaving she didn't really think about him too much like in that sense they were kids and she thought he'd always be around But once cloud left she said she thought about him everyday and checked the papers everyday and his absence made her feelings grow and rebirth did a great job

In Tifa's half it says she already liked Cloud even before the promise, since he used to find her cat Fluffy and bring it back to her without making himself get caught. They also used to play together but after the Mount Nibel incident, Cloud started to isolate himself and they stopped talking. There's a paragraph about the promise scene that goes like: Tifa emerged into the night with a gasp. The sky was full of countless glittering stars, like raindrops suspended in the sky, ready to come falling down at any moment. She wondered what Cloud would say to her up on the water tower. What special feelings might he confess? And if he did venture a step beyond friendship, how would she respond? Did she love Cloud? Did she like him as more than a friend? She pressed a hand to her chest as thoughts swirled. Of course she liked him. But she felt it wasn't that kind of "like" that makes you want to be with a certain person forever. Still, the night was anything but spoiled, thanks to the magic of the star-streaked sky. Or perhaps it was because she found it rather cute how worked up Cloud was about the grand future he believed was awating him beyond the village. Whatever the reason, it ignited a sudden spark. The words that next spilled from her lips came entirely on purpose. "Just...promise me one thing" she began. "When we're older and you're a famous Soldier... if I'm ever trapped or in trouble..." She hesitated and then blurted out, "Promise you'll come and save me." For a brief moment, time stood still on the water tower. She hadn't come inteding to say something like that. It just popped into mind. But once the promise was sealed, it seemed to her like a thing of singular importance. She'd discovered that Cloud, the quiet neighbor who had always seemed as unreachable as the stars, was just a normal boy like any other. She'd come to understand that she did like him. And it was that special kind of "like", the one that ties up your heart, making you yearn to be with that person for the rest of your days. There's a passage that says: Cloud had begun walking toward the man in black. He didn't want it to seem like he was hurrying to get even with Joel. Or that he was doing something because Emma gave him a nudge. This was his decision. To become a SOLDIER, he'd do whatever it took. If there was a path, he'd walk it. If there was a door, he'd try to open it. Afterall, didn't he promise that to Tifa? This was his choice and his alone. He would become exceptional. A SOLDIER. A hero. Tifa's special existence.

​@@Matagu1Hi, I guess we can see everything in different ways (it doesn't mean it's wrong or right) so for me, in dissia, in the second game Cloud save Tifa even if they don't have the memories of each other and they are even in opposites bands. In Kingdom hearts 2 Sephiroth said that Tifa is Cloud light. I was interpreting Hollow as Cloud to Zack. The Aerith song to Zack too, and in AC, Cloud is suffering because he couldn't save Aerith and he blames himself, so in a way Aerith save Cloud in there. This, of course is my interpretation on things, like I said it doesn't mean it's the correct or the wrong one. Oh, and we can't rest importance to Aerith because she is an extremely important character for Cloud too.

My perspective was changed a lot by rebirth regarding the dilemma of the love triangle during remake I always thought both girls are on equal footing but Aerith was sort of ahead and whatever Cloud and Tifa had going I thought it's just my head messing with me or I'm assuming too much. It's probably because their personalities could not be any different and Aerith pussed cloud a lot into things but he never tried to deny it. With rebirth we got an overhauled Tifa compared to OG she is way more present they have a lot of talks specially the Gongaga one where they ngl would have straight up kissed. The final nail that ultimately changed what I think is the gondola scene difference between Aerith and Tifa. Cloud straight up ignores Aeriths invite to sit next to her and he is overall confused in the Tifa one both of them are so shy that Tifa ultimately breaks the ice by practically confessing then she backs down thinking she's going ahead again Cloud imedietely picks up on the "again" and and then says "not one bit" he literally pulls her in holding her hand hugs her gently without hurting her (in remake they hugged and Tifa said he's hugging her too hard that it hurts) and goes for the kiss. I was shocked how from the start of the game when Tifa sheds tears because Cloud looks at her as an imposter to Cloud making her super happy with a kiss

@chichiboypumpi the main reason I feel the tifa date in rebirth is Canon is because of how much more emphasis the cloud and tifa story and relationship is part of the main story, whereas aerith is mostly shoved to the side quests, I'd say tifa and clouds relationship is 80% of the main stories focus where aerith is 15 and the others are about 5

Personal headcanon In OG timeline the person cloud went on a date with was Aerith, at this point in the story Tifa doesn’t really know how to approach cloud, his recounting of Nibelheim confuses her, at first doubting him, then herself, and making her adopt a wait and see mentality, In remake timeline everything changed at Gongaga. With Sephiroth making a concerted effort to kill Tifa, Tifa realizing that she will loose cloud to sephiroth when she was in the lifestream causes her to take a more proactive mentality with cloud. Then something happens that I have to stress as someone who has read/watched/played every piece of FF7 media. Cloud does something he has never done. He opens up. When Sephiroth used Cloud to try and kill Tifa it forced Cloud into a postion where he had to explain himself to Tifa, he opens up and lets her see his fears and insecurities. This is something that in the expanded material, Advent Children, on the way to a smile has always been a problem for the two of them. Tifa has wanted cloud to open up to her but he never does I genuinely think cloud went into that conversation expecting to loose his friendship with Tifa. The last thing I think he expected was not only to be forgiven but for Tifa to stand by his side over his concern over his degradation I think this as well as their mutual support for each other confronting their traumas in Nibelheim. This leads to cloud choosing Tifa over Aerith in this timeline Now if I feel like making Aerith a really tragic figure……let’s imagine that of all the memories that were taken from her by the whispers…….she was able to preserve the memory of her and clouds date. And then all of this happens…..makes her song infinitely more tragic Headcanon over

To me the OG the relationship are as follows Aerith - brother sister he feels a strong connection to her but not sexually more a protective feeling because of Zack Tifa - he has loved her and had feelings for her since they were kids and those feelings have not changed In rebirth thankfully it seems aeriths omnipotence has disappeared which allows the events of the og to keep happening but with small changes, I love the change of jenovaroth trying to trick cloud that tifa is not real that she is the imposter it fits with what JENOVA did to the ancients 2000 years ago, the tifa date is also the only one where cloud kisses anyone and he actually went for it tifa didn't he did which is monumental for their future in advent children which it's heavily implied they are a couple and a family at that stage. So far I love what they have done to the story and look forward to finishing it this weekend

@leilei1129 I disagree I think the story has steered more towards tifa this time around especially with the weapon cutscene so I feel the tifa date is the Canon one and the one that fits the most in rebirth

@@leilei1129 yep aerith is still the canon this time round imo, she is Rosa for 4 out of 6 options in loveless and going through the final chapters it's hard not to still think aerith is clouds main interest, without getting into anything incase people have yet to finish

@@necropig there is no canon, everything is worked up around player choice, all of it is the girls going out of their way to initiate the date every time, and it is all left for interpretation as to what cloud thinks and feels, none of the expanded material solidified anything for the sole purpose of “its what you want”

Funny that Tifa and Yuffie Loveless play talks about true Hero while only Aerith talks about Love conquers. Here Cloud is holding Tifas hand, with Aerith, he is holding a yellow petal representing Aerith.

The dialog in the play is not really that important it's a play they have different renditions for tifa calling cloud a true hero might aswell be a love confession because of their promise but you can't have all 3 say the same lines xD

I think you peoples have some questions and it's interesting. Why can't Cloud love Tifa as a lover and be with Aerith 😂 Yes they weren't that close when they were younger but as time goes by they get over it together and the connection grows, Isn't it? Don't you think it's interesting? Why does using aerith add to this but when changed to tifa it's just "they weren't close, just friends"? I'm sorry to tell you that their connection deepens when they're together. Don't forget that Cloud has had a crush on Tifa since he was a kid. Admit it haha, don't say OG, obviously it has changed over time.

@munkengfoo7862 well the obvious answer to that is that is not how the story goes, the interactions go the original goes. Any of the subsequent games and movies go xD. And Aerith has died again and the devs have said that fans expecting them to devaite heavily from the OG will be disappointed because that was never their intent. Cloud has known Aerith for a very brief period and canonically his "feelings" for her are more cause of his Zack persona whereas his entire youth and young adult life was driven by wanting to be noticed by Tifa his feelings for Tifa and deeply rooted in years and years of interactions and proximity and the story of FF7 really focuses on Cloud and Tifa working towards becoming a family by advent children

@@CarNage64SR i did watch it and when the camera zoom out when cloud is kissing tifa i zoom in on her head and it looks like she is not kissing cloud at all cloud just kiss her cheek and that's it
