Thank you for this masterful interview! These ladies dropped words of wisdom that I will carry with me in my own artistic career as a black female storyteller.

Mrs. Viola Davis, I want to thank you for being the VOICE to those, that could not speak for themselves, and for God using you to open up doors, that we thought could never be open. You have an amazing HEART, and I admire you , and your deepest concern for others.!!! BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL AND BEAUTIFUL. TO. GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

I raise three geniuses with the help of God they are 40, 41 and 36 now. They all are international travelers and if I tell you I raised them alone on less than 7k a year. They are all international travelers and I’ll just tell you one little thing about them all one has lived in another country and worked there in a prominent position and speaks six languages one is a personal trainer and and a gunsmith And now she is into archery she has some beautiful hobbies she’s marksman and the other is a writer one speaks six languages and started college in ninth grade one quit school at 16 because she said the teachers were stupid but she aced all of her courses to graduate with A,s to graduate. One is a national honor student another one speaks two languages including American sign language. One plans to visit every country in the world and has a great start. Yeah I’m very proud of them even though I am sitting here on Medicare and Medicaid because of cancer. But God knew I could handle what I’m going through it I’m not worried about it because I’m coming out I always come out. I was making almost 100 K a year before I got cancer it seems like everybody wants to doubt you but I know what’s going on I just have to trust and obey and I will continue to do such because God don’t Make a mess - People who think that they know you they don’t know you they don’t know what you’re capable of and they be looking at stuff they not looking at what you truly made of because they don’t know they can’t handle your pain but u not in pain when you know who you are. You are “I Am”. Who never fails at anything. You can’t believe the lies. I’m gorgeous.

Thank you so much for sharing this, sister. You're going through a lot. Yes, God is good, so good that He sent His Son Yehoshuah (also called Jesus) as payment for all our sin. Jesus saves!

TIFF how is it an event for film doesn’t know how to light a room for video. Admittedly, this interview is primarily for festival attendees, but you decided to record it for video and post it. Somebody should’ve known to light this so ALL these Black women could be seen. Darker skin requires a lot of light for film and video. Y’all as film professionals know that. If you’re going to record these festival sit down interviews for video, light them better! Even your host remarked how dark it was in the room.

knock them dead Viola tell the truth knock them dead / We really don’t have examples to look up to to be all that we can be Knock them dead We really don’t have examples to look up to to be all that we can be / my mother is my hero she died in 2012 at 97 years of age she still my hero nothing on the screen my hero except you now I’m 72 she taught me to be a real woman in this very few of them who can be an example. I have a sister who has the style of Phylicia Rashad Who says I am more like her sister Debbie Allen and I can point out other people that come close to mom and that would be Maya Angelou, But they all sort of done phased off. I have the movie poster of you and Denzel oh my wall in my office from Fences. It’s been there since the movie with the saying “ Ease is a greater threat to progress than Hardship” it’s been there since the movie. We need more examples, I have survived cancer three times I am a retired teacher not by choice. I always get carried away talking about stuff so I’m going to stop now. But I’m going back to sub teaching because it is in the cards I feelfeel like it a little bit I don’t want to but people need examples. I’m still certified to teach in California and then here in this state that God has had me in for the last eight years but it’s a plan he has to prepare me to the position that he wants me to be in I have to finish working on my PhD. I told you I talk to much but examples are needed I am in a position to do may work to help be an example. So keep doing what you’re doing we come in together trusting God. We all need the example that you are putting out there and there are others who need to be taught so he is strategically placing us where we are needed I hope this makes sense to whoever is reading it if not if you ask God he will tell you.

Do you think if we traveled to Africa and asked various tribes about the Dahomey they would tell the same story told in the Women King?
@BuildingVisibility2 жыл бұрын
Actually yes. There have been several documentaries done on Dahomey since the Black Panther Movie and they do all tell very similar stories.
