@jsquared10136 жыл бұрын
Simon Bohan they're not bleeding the club dry. They are turning higher profits than ever and the club is now worth something like quadruple what they paid for it. The club is worth enough now that it could be sold and the debt paid in one lump sum and they'd still have tripled their investment. There is still an argument that they could re-invest more of their profits back into the club (stadium updates, transfer fees on the inflated current market, etc), but it isn't like the club is hurting for funds. They've even kept the ticket prices somewhat reasonable compared to some of the top six.

TeamDestroyer There was a great article I read not long ago. A journalist was mildly annoyed noticing Old Trafford's WiFi cuts out in different parts of the stadium, then it dawned on him how stagnant United are in most areas. Clubs with money constantly upgrade their facilities. Before the Glaziers, Old Trafford expanded with new modern attachments. Their training ground, their academy, everything was cutting edge. That has stalled. On the pitch an overview of transfers highlights a priority to pay off debt instead of squad improvement during their initial takeover. All the better reason to praise Sir Alex's achievements under relative constraints. While Tottenham, Chelsea, City, Liverpool and Arsenal are building or have built state of the art grounds, training facilties with residential add-ons in some cases, Old Trafford remains the adequate $19 trousers. His content for mediocrity is only saved by United's massive profit revenue. The smaller % towards transfers and wages is substantial for a good manager in Mourinho but it's a smaller reinvestment compared to other rich clubs. A point so many just laughed off when José brought up the arms race with City and Barca. £1Billion of United's profit has gone towards the interest of the Glazers loan. Just the interest. Let that sink in. They are parasites.

The common relocation of teams in the USA can make it politically toxic to oppose a gigantic welfare check for the billionaire's stadium. Very interesting video. The Glazers were never a viable option to buy the shares being sold in 2005 if they were going to do it with a large debt included but really, if they fell out with Sir Alex, there wasn't much of a reason for them to care about the state of the club after. The main problem now is that you can't really see them leaving the club or selling their shares because nobody realistically has the billions of pounds to spare to buy them out. I don't think I'd mind the debt that they bought it on if they had the club's best interest at heart by keeping some of the money in the club to get us out of the pit of bad managers quicker.

You should add on their intent to put Man Utd in the US Stock Exchange last year or two, which is a gamble for a football-owned team when the intent was reported in the public. Other than that, it would be an interesting case in the next few seasons especially if they can't replicate Fergie-era success.
@dinkostoyanov7866 жыл бұрын
The club's situation is different to what it was a decade ago, on field success only contributes to a relatively average amount of money compared to the clubs other sources of income. Theoretically United can finish 6th every season for a decade and still be somewhat financially healthy, which means that they don't actually need something of a renaissance to previous Fergie-era success. Plus putting the club on the US Stock Exchange will only add to the multiple sources of income united are starting to create for themselves, it is a frugal and safe practice that has made United invincible to the eyes of finance.

On a tangent, for people who do not understand colonialism this is the perfect example of extraction colonialism. This, gentlemen is exactly what the British did to India. The very same thing. The railways, the English language, the army infrastructure all cited as net positives are all like "the official tyre partner" or the "South East Asian noodle partner". Increased revenue for the Glazers not for buying players. Worse still made the club look cheesy and weak. When Di Maria left citing that United signed him for T-Shirt sales he was not kidding. "Prawn Sandwich brigade" was bought in to buff up sales and the club culture suffered. The most vocal support for United and competent progeny in India had to move to find meaning. Very sad because I support both India and Manchester United.

So to sum up: They bought us for somewhere between 600-800m, 15 years ago. We have paid 1.3billion back and somehow are still in debt to the tune of 450m. When it came to ownership we certainly got the shit end of the stick...

@@leeandrosayshello7325 liverpool was just saved by Klopp . How can u forget so easily the situation of Liverpool just before Klopp. They are lucky to have manager like Klopp who created such a formidabble squad without spending much money unlike Man City.

Clubs with history like United and Arsenal are suffering from their owners while money clubs with no history like Chelsea and City won trophies after trophies just because of their owners. Shame what our league has become really.
