Cool. I'm brand new to tig welding. Heading out to the garage now to try to lay down some beads for my first time.

I just bought this on impulse. Was at HF for an unrelated purchase, and they had one on their clearance table. $290! Right across the isle, I saw the normal retail was $799. Don't know anything about TIG but that sure seemed like a steal. I called a welder buddy of mine, and he said for that price, jump on it. It's still in the back of my car. HF said clearance table is as-is, and I have 5 days to return. WIll play with it tomorrow probably. Same buddy will run some tests with it since he has all the gasses.

Use your filler rod to strike across the tungsten and that simulates scratch start and saves on tungsten sharping
@mds63872 жыл бұрын
That's pretty good advice. Thank you for sharing. I'm thinking about getting this machine, and possibly use the TIG function for stainless and aluminum.

Your walking the cup is decent, just keep your angle about a 45° angle and turn the heat down a bit to go a little slower until you get the hang of it. Good job though. This is the video I was looking for. I got the Titanium Unlimited 200 & the Titanium Plasma 45, Plasma Cutter. Been playing with them both and was about to check out the TIG feature, just wanted to see a video on it first, too see what I was getting into. Thank you for your video.

Just FYI, those pins you referred to are called studs or shear studs. They're usually welded with a special "stud" welding machine on structural steel components to aid in the reinforcement of concrete. I do like the grinding wheel rack you made though! Good video

Hi I have a question I bought this welder but I was surprised it doesn’t have foot paddle for Tig weld i confused some of them have and some not so what the paddle do give voltage? Thank you for your time I LK&SB
@chaoticlizzards653Ай бұрын
The foot pedal controls the amperage during the weld this machine doesnt come with one it is scratch start TIG only meaning you scratch the work piece with the tungsten to start the arc similar how you would strike up a stick rod

Very nice. Would this unit be good for tig welding Steel rod? Plus, I have never tig welded before but I am an ok mig welder so I will be teaching myself using videos like yours. So I appreciate you guys making these videos. Im in the RC hobby so I like to make 1/10 and 1/6 scale roll cages and A-arms for suspensions. I would be welding 3/16- 5/16 steel rod and square rod.
@chaoticlizzards653 Жыл бұрын
Yes just a lot of prep Make sure your material is nice and clean, hit it with a tiger paw wheel. Make sure you're using the correct gas and settings etc. It definitely hangs.

Great Video: Ok I know I will get piled on here but...Being a newbie with the Titanium 200 and to welding in general,why not just use Mig for this project?

So I’m assuming you’re not going to use aluminum for the bracket, (this machine will not TIG weld aluminum) so it’ll have to be either stainless or carbon steel. I’d use a smaller tungsten probably 1/16th 2% ceriated tungsten. Assuming the bracket is not more than 1/8th inch thick. If stainless, you will have to determine what type, 304, 316l etc etc. and get the same filler rod, (if it’s 316 then get 316 filler rod, and vice versa. This stuff is available at any welding supply store), in 1/16th diameter (you could probably get away with 3/32 filler rod if you want.) if carbon steel, get ER70S2 filler rod same size 1/16th or 3/32 at most. your material will need to be extremely clean so hit it with a new wire wheel or a Tiger paw (buffing wheel) with a grinder. Get off all surface impurities. Also, if you can, I highly recommend running practice welds on a piece of scrap and dialing in your settings on the machine before you go after it for real, make sure you’re comfortable and you like the way the beads look. Probably going to be somewhere between 50-80 amps. 100% Argon @ 15 CFH

I got a question can you use longer welding leads or will it affect it?? Also extension cord for 220???
@chaoticlizzards6532 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use longer leads, in my experience it doesn’t really affect anything until you get into really long leads, (like 100 ft). You can use an extension cord for 220 but you need to make sure it is the correct gauge size. I’m not an electrician so I’m not sure gauge sizes so you’d have to do your research, I’d say at least 10 gauge if I had to guess
