I’m fascinated by the former’s sails, since we know they have a few purposes (dissipating body heat, herding prey, etc.) but aren’t sure of we know all of them. And they’re also just really pretty. Orcas are also neat, I’ve been recently interested in all of the different “breeds” that can be found across the world, having adapted to a certain environment, since it can effect not just what they eat or what time of year they mate, but also the shape and size of their fin, the color and width of their saddle patch, and so on. Dunno if Ethan would want that as a reply when attempting to rizz, though.

@@4nn4h Mantis shrimp! They’re their own unique order that is evolutionarily focused on close combat fighting. They have different groups of their claw types, the most common are smashers and spearers, if I recall correctly. There’s videos online of people who keep them as fish-tank pets and they will exhibit this punching behavior. Their compound eyes are also very sensitive, but it’s really unknown currently why their eyes are so complex and abled to see polarized light beyond helping them see their surroundings better to protect their territory, since they frequently partake in social fighting behaviors.
