Where was the worst service you had at a restaurant or a bar?
@Catmom-gl5ntАй бұрын
I travel for work and move to a different country every 2 or 3 years, so I’ve seen some doozies. One that stands out for me though was during grad school. I went with friends for a Sunday brunch and the menu clearly said no substitutions, which I understood. However, I am deathly allergic to shellfish and for some reason their salmon Benedict had a garnish of rock shrimp. I asked the waitress if the shrimp could be left off due to my allergy. She very rudely said there are no substitutions. I gazed at her for a moment and then said, yes I read the menu, however I asked you for an omission not a substitution. I’m sorry I confused you. I then said I was fine with tap water and would tip accordingly. I was more than happy to stay while my friends ate, but her behavior was so rude we paid for the coffees we’d had and left. We were all very generous tippers, so she easily lost out on a $40 tip for very little effort.

That's so strange. IMO, shellfish (and nuts) is one of those things that we can always accommodate because of the potential lethal nature of them. Also, I think omissions and substitutions are two different things. It actually SAVES the restaurant money by omitted the shrimp.

To be honest, I think the waiter was on a power trip. The restaurant was in Washington DC and if you’re not familiar with the area, due to a large rotating population of foreign diplomats, there is a continuous pool of new victims. Restaurant don’t need to worry about their reputation because there will always be new people who do t know to stay away. I agree, substitutions and omissions are two different things and would not only be cheaper, but also easier not to throw the additional topping on. The irony is my friends and I were always extremely valued customers due to our familiarity with the service industry, our generous tips, and basic politeness. I have had restaurants repeatedly offer free food to try to keep us longer, which is always amusing, I just up the tip, but I don’t know why staff never want to turn our table and try to bribe us to stay. Le Chat Noir in Paris gave us free champagne, free appetizers, free dessert and after a 3 hour meal asked why we were leaving so soon. They were so much fun but we actually felt guilty leaving.

As an American who lives in Prague a big difference between US America and here is professionalism in the hospitality industry. Kids graduate high school here at 15 years old and have the option to spend 2 years at a trade school- like hospitality. This results in trained, professionals in the bar and restauant business. In US America odds are you will come across waitstaff and bartenders who are just there between jobs or as a measure of last resort, rather than as a career. No professional training or experience through internship.

That's true, however, not 100% accurate. If you go to a low end restaurant then you can expect a server like this woman. Finer dining establishments have a trained staff.

I live in Australia and there's also heaps of hospitality courses that you can take even just online, most places have pretty good service wherever you go because people actually get paid a decent wage, and there's none of this weird higher-archy tipping mentality, you just pay for your meal and that's it BUT food is definitely alot more expensive here

have def had this level of server multiple times, and it 100% directly effects their tips. and then these same people turn around and complain about how hard their jobs are and no one tips

Thankfully, I’ve never had a server like her. Great video.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

She probably works at one of them restaurants where they just tack on a tip or the staff splits the tips among the employees. So she's not relying on her ability to provide a good experience but relying on people just absently paying her for her bad service.

As an old school server who came up in the Escoffier era, she would never survive. Shit used to be brutal.

Thankfully I've never encountered such a terrible server. Its crazy that she has a job doing this if this is really how she conducts herself at work.

If you want to see another Kitchen Nightmares, check out La Parra De Burriana from the UK version. Gordon found dookie in the dining room, the restaurant was robbed of 5,000 euros, and much more!

In Hawaii, it's illegal to automatically serve a customer water automatically. You need to ask for water if you want it. often they will ask when you're seated.

These people should get other jobs. When i was serving, my personality and hospitality would deescalate the most angry people and they left giving ME apologies for their behavior!!! 😊

While editing this video, I would have to agree. The second video, she was filming her skit with holes in her shirt.

How is she still working in the service business? Why is she filming at work? I hope she realizes that her mouthing off like this on the internet will not age well.. I was in hospitality for 30 years.. if anyone actedlike that at my jobs they wouldn't last a day.

if i worked with this person and we had to pull tips, i'd quit before sharing money with her.

Seriously why do people do the most random stuff whilst ranting on Tik Tok like pampering their face or cutting fruit😂 It's basically the same thing as when someone wakes up in the morning, conpletely sober and has lots of that over-confident energy, talking to nothing thinking their opinion is the best thing ever except they don't realise how cringe they are

People, your undercooked burgers and steaks are not safe for your health. Maybe they taste better. I don't argue with that, but if you think that such meat is safe, then you don't know anything about meat. And I'm not talking about immediate poisoning, I'm talking about what will happen to you as you age if you eat undercooked meat, even if it's cooked according to all the culinary rules. That's the first thing. I remember once going to a restaurant. I asked for a well-done steak. The steak turned out to be crap. Ten times worse than what I would have made/make at home. But that wasn't even the main thing. They served me a steak with rotten potatoes. Literally rotten. The waitress smirked at that and said nothing. Then people in the know told me that they do that in restaurants so that people who order a well-done steak don't come to them. That's what I did. I never went there again. Great service)))

What's supposed to happen to you as you age if you eat undercooked meat?

@999GarionАй бұрын
Wait a moment. You are going to a restaurant and you are watching movie or listening music on your smarthphone? It that something americans do ?
@Jmadx88Ай бұрын
Okay so yall who don’t sever. Listen she’s right about everything she said we work for tips and we can tell who’s going to tip and who’s not so the moment people are rude or taking forever to order when you have a bunch of other tables looking at you like are you going to go get what I asked for yes I would also walk away cause then you weren’t ready duhh
@RighteousnessWillPrevailАй бұрын
Your there to work with professionalism. Your a hospitality worker. If your going to have a blah attitude and effert, don't work in that line of work.

I quit going to restaurants because of people like her. If you dont like your service job please quit, and stop being rude.
