We lost 3 of our seven kids in the past 3yrs. I hear this song from both perspectives. Me to them as they reside in the presence of Father and Christ as He does on his throne in heaven for now. And then to me from them as we walk on in this life for a little while longer. It is a haunting mournful tune and sobering letter to each other that I take great comfort in. God help us

This was my favorite song back when it came out in I think 1999. My dad worked a 3rd job for extra cash as a janitor for a bank right outside of Billy bobs Texas (ft worth stockyards). I use to help him clean it after I got out of school and we get done later at night and this would always play on the radio driving home. We would stop and get a malt from sonic and this just take me back to those days. I’m in my mid 30s now and he’s been gone 5 years now.

Before that we lost our father when we were both in the 4th grade. I am so sorry and I know it hurts. BAD. It'll be okay. I won't lie like everyone else does. My Mommie just passed in 2018 and that truly opened old wounds but through the grace of God I am still here. Time doesn't heal. Your memories and your heart will help. This song is about a girl I loved since elementary school, she never loved me back but that was ok. She was dating a guy who dumped her cause she was diabetic and his parents told him she would just be a doctor bill. She didn’t know that but I told her the truth and she was devastated. I have never forgiven myself for that. The line in the song “ When I can’t hurt you anymore” tears me up to this day. She is married now and happy, she will forever have a special place in my heart, forever!

I have been with my wife since 1997, we met in high school, and we got married young in 2000. We have had a good life thus far, we have two wonderful sons, our life has been filled with the typical ups and downs, highs and lows, and some heartaches and tragedy in between. As I sit back and hear this song, 25 years later since it came out, I frequently wonder how her life could have been better if I had let her go all those years ago. I'm far from perfect, and in my eyes, I think she could have done so much better. I often feel guilty knowing she could have had a better life a better path. The older I get the more songs and lyrics from way back when resonate more with me, they hit me right in my heart.

We always bounced back though like nothing happened. Our last time though, seeing each other was back in October/November. I wish I wouldn’t have left her. We talked 3 days before she passed back in April. Looking back with a lot of regret. She knew she held a special place with the me. I miss her terribly. Happy birthday Friend, love you bunches. 🩵

I remember getting in my car a few hours after my grandfather passed away and this song was playing on the radio. I sat there crying because it felt like it was a message to me from him saying it’s okay to move on but to remember him as well. Being forgotten by me after he was gone was his biggest fear. I remembering pinky swearing him that he will always be my first love, my best friend, and could never forget him no matter how hard I tried. I love how this song can be interpreted as a break up song or a song of the deceased person telling their loved ones that they can move on but they still want to be remembered.

It was a huge hit. From his 1999 album A Place in the Sun. Released that year as the first single from that album, it reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts, a position and held it for five weeks. The song was also McGraw's biggest solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 10.

I have been an absolute Tim McGraw fan ever since I heard this song by Tim in 1999. The story behind it is that after my divorce from my ex-wife in 1999, a few months later I went on a 3-week trip alone in a rental car through the USA & Canada. I was just listening to country radio in the car and then the song "Please remember me." The song immediately touched my heart and when I passed a CD shop I immediately bought Tim's album with this title. His music has accompanied me for almost 25 years and I also love the song "My little Girl" from the film Flicka. My daughter was born in 1993 and when I hear the song I often think of the time when my daughter was little. I'm almost 60 years old but I've already stipulated in my will that when I go the last way, the song.

@@lisaboje3640After time with much trouble about / from divorcing I need time for me. I really enjoyed thesse trip. Taking a trip like these is not for everyone. But as far as I'm concerned, I would do it again at any time. Because all these impressions and experiences are priceless.

Please remember me !!! I just beat head and neck cancer 2 years ago and was given a great prognosis … and outta nowhere , I come to find out that I now have advanced stage lymphoma !!! Shout out to my beautiful and amazing wife that kicked breast cancer in the rear !!! She’s a VERY strong woman … I’m gonna fight this battle again , I wake up every morning and listen to this song and “ live life like you were dying “ !!! Tim McGraw is a true hero and I want to say Thank you for writing true and inspirational ballets to listen to and give hope when it needs the most !!! When my wife finished her last chemo and rang the bell , I remember bawling like a child , but tears of happiness !!! I looked on the wall at McGee hospital in Pittsburgh and seeing Tim reaching into the crowd and holding this woman’s bald head from cancer treatments , that just goes to show how much of a True Man that he is and I thank you for that !!! Stay strong and live life like you were dying because some of us just never know ❤️❤️❤️

I sang this song at my uncles funeral at the request of his wife. I felt a little bullied into doing it since in my family I am known as the "one" who can play piano and guitar and can carry a tune. While I sang it, the many meanings came to me and I let go of the grudge I was feeling and felt the song for what the words were saying. I'm glad I did. I won't be singing at any more funerals though.

Her harmonies here are 🤌 *chef's kiss* !!! Of course, she is unmatched any day, any song. I love how I had to look up who it was, though.
