Have you ever glued two picks together with a small space between the picks its sounds like a twelve string when you strum
@addictedtogear7 жыл бұрын
I've never tried that.
@doozle51325 жыл бұрын
Yup did that, it works...
@spongeorpete72892 жыл бұрын
The problem with that is that when the second pick hits the string it mutes it before it plays it again, so there are only 7 “strings” playing at once instead to 12. But it is fun!

wow that's a neat trick tbh

I got some of these wood picks for my Eastman mandolin and they sound amazing
@tanmayshekhawat Жыл бұрын
Hello! A mandolin player here, and I am interested in buying wooden picks. Can you tell me the thickness of your wooden pick? Almost all wooden picks I have found online are pretty damn thick (more than 2 mm). What do you think?

I started playing with timber tones from the absolute beginner stage, against my teacher's advice. I've since never ever used any other kind of pick. I made more mistakes than usual in the beginning but the sounds I get now, not the playing, the sounds are amazing - I just can't get them with plastic or nylon. Stick with them - it's worth it

Could you elaborate? Why didn't your teacher approve and how much more difficult would you say it was to learn, maybe in terms of time? They seem really great.
@piemmetubo5 жыл бұрын
I have an opposite experience. When I was an absolute beginner I was recommended by my teacher to use extra heavy picks also on classical and acoustic guitars. So I started making my own wooden picks and I never came back to plastic ones since then. I need just a limited number of tools: a saw, a couple of files, a very sharp utility knife and sandpaper. My wood comes from scraps of a local luthier. Of course wooden picks wear out quite faster that plastic ones, but it takes me just 15' to make a pick. And it's a pleasure to shape, carve and adapt it to my fingers.

Makes sense tbh i mean wooden picks seem more ''natural'' plastic is so artificial right but easy to produce loool

Can't say anything about the Timber Tones, but the wooden pick I bought once at a local guitar store was reduced to sawdust by day two

Had the same issue with mine. After using it for a few days half of the pick was gone haha

Been making all my own picks out of what ever suits me. Once a number of years ago in my stained glass days I made a guitar pick out of a bifocal lense.

Do you think it might be clever to not tell people which pick you're using when you are doing the sound demos or maybe you don't want to use that kind of honesty

Wooden picks! How luxurious! LOL I don't think these are for acoustic guitars. Might work for electric guitars though.
@C1schecter1013 жыл бұрын
would rather here it in electric guitar ...generic actually sounds better makes it sound more warm word pick you used may it sound more raw and bright /natural in sound
@imaferretmaster2 жыл бұрын
Literally just started making these and letting my buddy test them, just heard him use it on an electric and truthfully it still creates a warmer sound.

I can attest wood picks are grossly superior to nylon or anything else. I’ve been using them since the 90s. I can assure you that this brand is VERY CREATIVE with the way they name their woods. China Made, enough said.stay away or be disappointed. After trying every brand of wood picks on this planet, I only recommend Forever Pick. Handmade in USA, half the price of foreign made. They never crack or break. I get them on reverb. The guy who owns this company made a lot of very famous guitars we all know. He is gonna shut down Dunlop in 2018.

I make my own wooden picks: I can choose the wood and shape them to perfectly fit my fingers.
@gitaarprofeet2 жыл бұрын
Assure me how? And to what end exactly? I bought the acoustic mix pack on Amazon (Almondwood, Mimosa, Thai Cassia and Burmese Padauk) and I think the woods are what they are... I know a lot of cheap and crappy stuff comes from China, but then again, the Chinese are more than capable of importing different sorts of wood and timber from around the world and lets be honest, making picks out of those woods is not rocket science. I think the picks look good and sound good. I can really hear the difference between the woods as expected. I don't believe they would have felt or sounded better if they were made in the UK or somewhere in Europe or the US. But that's just me...
