sluices are a great addition to the game. they're on/off only, can walk/build on. and they can be set to close based off water level down stream and contamination levels up stream. they're great. get them figured out quick and life is grand in this game for ya

Don't forget that there are lots of alternative fluid routes that are currently blocked by debris that you could readily use to improve the separation of good and bad water. I believe they have changed the water physics for water wheels but I would still have preferred to build the compact water wheels across rather than along the river. (Or both, given that you want lots of power.) Until your first badtide, it's probably easier and definitely cheaper to use stairs to cross rivers. What level did you keep your floodgates at before the drought started? There's no point closing them after the drought starts; simply set them to 0.95 all the time unless your lower section dries up and you need to refill it.

That's true. I need to have a proper look and see what we can do. I'm not 100% but I think that water wheels no longer slow the flow of water beyond them, so stacking them back to back is a more useful tactic now. It probably would have been a good idea to use stairs rather than platforms, but you know what I'm like. I'd have forgotten to replace them and we'd be swamped with contaminated beavers! Ah, you noticed that, did you? Yeah, I had those floodgates set to 0 and forgot to raise them until right before the drought started! I think I was operating on the assumption that there was more in the feed channels from those source blocks! I'll probably start them at around 0.80 to make sure we don't get any flooding.

Until you get haulers you're hindering your water pumpers if they have to travel long distances to fill water tanks rather than having tanks closer to the pumps.

Yeah, we do get a Hauling Post in, but the slow birth rate is hindering us at the moment. I may look to that in the next episode... (*Insert Shameless Plug Here*)

doing my 2nd play in u6 on this map actually. glad i did a normal mode run first. took a good 30ish cycles for me to have the map under control in hard haha
