@@amandaloebner8169 I can go slightly better than that. Many years ago, I was with a friend at the Half Moon in Putney. (This was before Regenesis had ever played there.) I think we were there to see Haze ( a Prog Duo) and Ant Phillips was propping up the bar. I immediately recognised him and said “ You’re Anthony Phillips aren’t you? I’m a big fan of your music.” I left out the fact that I knew he’d been in Genesis and reeled off all the albums by him, that I possessed. That was exactly my thoughts, too, and still haven't figured it out as of today! Mr. Mike Rutherford, if you read this, please, please give consideration to one more Prog masterpiece like Small Creeps Day or even a gathering of the troops to re-record it to today's high quality technology standards. The bass pedals and drums need to shake my house, which unfortunately doesn't happen on the original recording!

I echo some of the previous comments about the greatness of this album and Noel's vocals. So much of the debate about the magic of Genesis rotates around Peter, Tony and Phil but for me Mike's contributions were phenomenal. Listening to Duke after Small. You don't think Phil sang well? Its my understanding that Noel was considered. I don't know if that meant he had an audition or not. Phil ended up being able to sing both the softer ballads as well as the heavier songs too, which pleasantly surprised the other 3. Noel's voice is more suited for songs like Ripples, Entangled, Afterglow but not sure he could pull of stuff like Dance on a Volcano, Squonk Down and Out, Eleventh Earl of Mar for example. He might have been a good long term fit on Tony and Steve's solo albums.
