I actually met this guy many years ago when he wondered into the little print shop I work at for some copies of his "Time Cube" papers. He tried to explain his concept while I was making his copies, but I quickly stopped him as I didn't have time to listen. I invited him to come back after closing when I would be available. I enjoy listening to people's theories even if it is for a good laugh, and I couldn't wait to hear what he had to say. He came back and spent several hours trying to explain it all to me, but I knew as much when he finished as I did when he started. Funny thing is, when I tried to ask specific questions about his concepts, he got mad as though he wanted me to just accept his teachings. I excused myself after that and left. I did run into him several times after that over the course of several years.

I met Gene Ray in 2001 at the Clearwater, FL Post Office. He was handing out 2 printouts in the parking lot about his Time Cube theory and he had with him his mini "earth" encased in a 4 cornered plexiglass cube to demonstrate his theory. He seemed very nice, intelligent, well spoken while was kindly trying to spread his message. I still have those two papers. #RIPGeneRay

I actually spent 8 months pondering his website and I've come to the conclusions that when he says 96 hours, he means that there are 5 suns that shine on earth: the one in the middle of the solar system and 4 perpendicular suns that you can't see with the naked eye (they're like ultraviolet or something) that orbit the earth in a 96 hour orbit as the earth rotates around its axis creating a 96 hour cycle that fits into an astrological cycle that affects people differently based on their ethnicity.

Well this theory is on to something, but I say there is no time cube and there is no 4 corners of the Earth! Besides, for there to be 4 consecutive earth days spinning simultaneously, is to assume there is 4 different time zones and theres more than 4,time zones, at least 24 time zones, each time zone for every hour, therefore 24 different earth days in one earth rotation!
@Sodasaman

That is actually not a crazy as it first sounds. If you read "Flatland" you'll learn a physical principle that you can only directly perceive 1 less than the total number of dimensions of the system you are in. We directly perceive 3 spatial dimensions infer the 4th dimension of time. A sphere can spin on 3 spatial dimensions at once around the X,Y, & Z axis. If time is the 4th dimension then perhaps it is also spinning about a 4th axis related to time. This still doesn't explain that other stuff he said but that could shed some light into how he got started on that rabbit hole.

What he is saying is that while it's day where you live, it's midday and midnight somewhere else, or "timezones"; Now why the fuck he's acting like he just discovered the lost link is what bugs me. Maybe he thinks people are taught to believe that when it's day on one place, it's day on everywhere else on Earth? A mystery, that will be emtombed with him.

I thought that myself. It's possible but if you read his web page....dude, there is no way to even try to give any sort of plausible explanation for that craziness. By the way, he says at the bottom of page 2 of his web page, on the "Life Encompasses A 4-16 Cube Principle" diagram, there are certain people that "live" in the four corners. One is Socrates, one is Clinton, one is Einstein and one is Jesus. Again, I can't figure out how to even closely justify this...other than to say he must be some type of schizophrenic.

With the time I've had to spend around schizophrenic patients while treating them, I can say you can often times find some threads of connection to reality because they do still live in this world. But that does not make their ideas or theories then valid. They are still rantings that have lost touch with reality. For someone to try to make sense of their nonsense is what we, as humans, do naturally. Sort of like the blotches on paper. What is that? A butterfly? A bee? Or just a blotch on a paper...it is our thinking that makes us find meaning.

***** So wait, in essence he just doesn't understand the principle of the space-time continuum, i.e. that there is not "different" time in a "different" place? He thinks that in every of these 4 places, there is a "seperate" set of 24 hours ticking down, adding them together and thus getting his 96 hour day? I've just been reading through his Time Cube site and trying to comprehend what he evens means by the "4 simultaneous 24 hour days". The fact that he thinks that 4 different periods of 24 hours can occur at the same time should have been the clue really...

+ScienceAndTruth What he's saying doesn't make sense. It has nothing to do with "if I get it"; a logical argument or theory should be comprehensible and have conclusions that follow from its premises. Timecube is nothing like that. It's arbitrary, batshit nonsense. For instance, why 4 days from 1 day? Why not 8 days? Or 24? Why does the earth have 4 corners? Why not 8? Wouldn't there be an infinity of different days since the sun doesn't exist directly over any two points at the same time? It's a bullshit theory.

According to him "A cube has only 4 sides plus a top and bottom". Huh ??? So then I can claim that a cube has only 2 sides + a top and bottom + a front and back. Or by his logic I can argue that a cube has no sides, it only has a left, right, front back, top and bottom. And a sphere has 4 corners. Is the earth also embedded in a clear polycarbonate cube ?

It's true that midday for one person is midnight, sunup and sundown for other people, but he's ignoring one o'clock, two thirty, and all the other infinite potential divisions of time. Time itself is an arbitrary concept, and dividing it into four sides is just as arbitrary. The halfway points between dawn and noon, dusk and midnight, etcetera, could easily be added to the time cube, making it an 8 sided time prism. And why stop there? The time prism could have infinite sides. Or, to keep it simple, we could just agree on 24 sides and call them hours. Gene Ray isn't promoting four 24 hour days, he's promoting one single 4 hour day, he's just not calling his divisions hours. He's calling them days. The time cube isn't false, it's just arbitrary. And since the world already operates efficiently on a 24 sided time prism, which we call a 24 hour day, this time cube model is a needless distraction. I'll take my thousand dollars now, please.

thecianinator Right. That's the way I read it also. But -- around 1:45 he states that each quadrant is rotating in an opposing or different direction simultaneously. That's where I lose it. He does make a worthy argument for the importance of the "village" versus a community of strangers. It's touching. He's a nut, but he may have a soul after all.
@thecianinator
@thecianinator 9 жыл бұрын
He's thinking two dimensionally. If a rotating sphere, divided into cube-like quadrants, were viewed from the north pole, then the quadrant at the top of the viewpoint would appear to move right and down, while the bottom quadrant would appear to move left and up.

He introduced himself and handed me a few papers describing his Time Cube theory, along with showing me a small Earth model encased in a plexiglass cube to explain it further. He was very nice and my fiancee was with me too - we spoke for several minutes outside of my car, then Gene went on his way - he had his contact info on those papers too but I never contacted him. I thought it was strange but 'whatever' I thought, the world is full of things. I still have those two photocopied papers from him. Then years later, I started to see all kinds of his Time Cube stuff on the internet, and how he ranted on his beliefs - I thought - who did I meet that day? A crazy man or a genius or both? +cassandra5322 This guy is beyond mere schizophrenia. He is... His entire sense of reality is warped beyond any sense of rationalism whatsoever. Even if he was WILLING to accept help, there's no way anyone could get through to him. I tried to read that website and just got a bad feeling deep in the pit of my stomach as if I was looking into the abyss of the most completely broken human mind I've ever seen and could not even have ever imagined. There may well be worse, but it is impossible for me to even imagine.

Time cube is a distortion in space-time (an "anomaly" as they say on Star Trek), and this guy got trapped in it, and after he got out, he's now trying to explain what the experience was like being trapped in this 16 dimensional space-time structure. No human words can describe what this rift in the fabric of the universe is like. That's why his babbling sounds so crazy. Where could he have been on the earth that such a spacial anomaly would exist? Obviously he was in an airplane flying over the Bermuda Triangle. He's one of the few who have actually survived this.

he's right though, if you take a circle, draw a line down the middle vertically, rotate the circle 90 degrees, and draw another vertical line down the middle, you will create a grid of 4 quarter-circle "quadrants', each of these "quadrants" as he calls them experiences a sunrise, afternoon, evening, and sunset, within 24 hours; therefor there are "4" simultaneous day. you could slice n' dice this further to create any number of simultaneous 24 hour days, depending on perspective; if this isn't the case, then I don't get it.

From science , we know that we humans invent time which is 24 hours for 1 day. He just divide the earth sphere into 4 different parts and say we experience 4 different time (sun rise , noon, etc...) and eventually 4 days but he forgot 1 thing No matter how many parts he divides , he has to multiple back to the parts that he divided.... Here is a simpler solution use his time cube , mark all the 4 sides with flags or something. shine it and look at it how many turns we need to take to experience a day / a complete turn ? As such we still conclude the revolution of earth makes 1 day. he said people are dumb bla bla bla makes people feel like he is strange should we listen to a strange person?

Okay, so the Earth is a 4 sided cube, with each face of the cube in an alternate dimension, and a parallel existing universe. Makes perfect sense. He's sort of right about the whole midday thing though. If I'm standing in the midwest of the US, at midday, in Hawaii, it's dusk, in England, it's dawn, and in Moscow it's midnight.

What I don't get (well, the main thing I don't get) is even if what he's saying is true (which is a stretch, but for the sake of argument) how does it change anything about life or the understanding of physics? As far as I can tell he's talking about a semantic difference in how we describe time, but it's not like you can use his "theory" to actually _do_ anything.
@johnybalohny
@johnybalohny 9 жыл бұрын
I agree with what your saying. Why not have an Octogon, or any even sided object as your shape. It would be just as valid. I suggest we build off his 4 side theory, but instead it should be 24 sided with 1 top and 1 bottom.
@johnybalohny

You could have a 3 sided figure (three timezones) or a 173 sided figure (many time zones), all depends on what we agree on.
