I'm not supposed to tell anybody this, but I am a time traveler. For some time now, I've been traveling through time at a velocity of 60 seconds per minute. I've actually managed to travel across decades of time, and am continuing to travel forward into the future at this very moment. By the time you read this, my body and consciousness will have traveled even further into this time stream. Neither I nor the scientists of my era can fully explain the sequence of interactions that led to my travel through time, but I have had no difficulty maintaining a relatively constant rate of travel, and I expect I will be able to continue on my travels for the rest of my life.

The woman “time traveler” in The Circus was actually holding and using an Ear Trumpet. These were the first of what would become hearing aids. My grandmother had one of these and as soon as I saw this clip it triggered memories of my grandmother from when I was a child and teenager. My grandmother still used that old Ear Trumpet and she held it just like that. She would turn her head toward you so that she could hear you better while making sure to point the Ear Trumpet toward you. That is exactly what the woman in the old film is doing. So I knew what it was as soon as I saw it.

If time travel was possible, some asshole in the future would have looked for a way to profit from it, like time tourism, come ride the titanic hours before it sinks, a shopping trip to Pompei hours before the volcano erupts. So there'd be evidence of crowds of people out of nowhere and acting strangely before an event happens.
@francescomarzotto8 жыл бұрын

The temptation to screw up with the past would just be too tempting. From good-intentioned individuals just wanting to save loved ones to absolute shitbags who'd try to help the Nazis win WWII...
@CNNBlackmailSupport7 жыл бұрын
Larry Bundy Jr if it was possible, it would have to be a crazy fast vehicle too. Earth is constantly moving through space, so there is no such thing as going back in time to the same location you are at. Any time traveller would be left out in the cold void of empty space if they were lucky. Unlucky time travel would involve popping up inside a planet or star.
@nadiaaljabouri79087 жыл бұрын
EsJay W. Pair'A'Deez Technically we can travel back in time, there's a "goldilocks" zone between two colliding black holes at a certain 'time' and 'place' where we can travel backwards in time. Now having the tech to do it, let alone survive the trip is another story. I bet you that getting to earth would be simple given you have the tech to get to the nearest binary black hole system in the first place. I don't recommend getting in contact with yourself or anything. Since we don't know what'll happen. Maybe you'll become a huge galactic bomb? Destroying all in your wake and waking up all in your destruction. We're not even gonna bother with the other ways since there's less info. We still don't know if worm holes are a thing or if they even have an 'exit'. DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A QUANTUM PHYSICIST. Just a high school drop out with no job and WAY to much time on their hands. This is an abbreviated version. I recommend you look up the thesis of the student that said all this and has the math to back it up! It's Phucking fascinating!
@scaper87 жыл бұрын
Larry Bundy Jr True. But if, again if, time travel like that were possible, it could be that there are very tight regulations on it. Only groups of ten on the Titanic, for example. They are only allowed to be in prescribed areas at prescribed times following prescribed actions, etc. It doesn't fix the human ability to fuck things up though. Or, alternatively, they have been in the past and have always been in our past ("our past" being subjective to us; would we realy know if the past were different at some point and was changed? Our knowledge and evidence of it would have been changed along with it.). I heard of a story (never found the title or author thought to read it myself) about a future where time travel tourism is common. A favorite destination for Christians is the trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ. One group goes and finds that the local Jewish population _isn't_ calling for his execution as the Bible says that it is. They (or one of them, I can't remember) decide that they must fix the history that someone else clearly screwed up. They get together, rile up the populis, and inadvertently end up causing two thousand years of anti-Semitism. If that were true, would we have ever know the past to be different? No, our past has always been and will always be our past. If it were changed, all our knowledge of the past would be rewritten to match and we'd be none the wiser. Again, this is all a hypothetical thought experiment.

Think of all those people in alternate 1985. They never knew about the Sports Almanac. To them, Biff Tannen was never an office worker or a car detailer. He'd never been anything other than a shady casino owner to them. They lived their whole lives in a hellhole crime-infested version of Hill Valley never knowing it was "supposed" to be different. Up until they (presumably) vanished when Doc and Marty went back again, their version of 1985 seemed completely real to them. That's where we are now. Let's just hope Doc and Marty are already heading back to retrieve that almanac.

If you look at a lot of research done in physics on this topic, it is very possible to go FORWARDS in time at a heavily accelerated rate, but NOT backwards... And truth be told, not many people want to go forwards....all the risks (What if you go forward and it's a wasteland at that destination?) coupled with the fact all your loved ones would be very old or dead...isnt pleasant to most people

My argument always as if there were time travelers we would never know about it because if you’re smart enough to invent time travel you’re smart enough not to get caught

Game Breaker Interesting theory! I’ve never thought of that before actually
@CrizzyEyes4 жыл бұрын
@@feef1699 It's a similar thing to aliens. Aliens who have the technology to travel from somewhere outside of our observed space to observe or attack us would also have the technology to prevent themselves from being detected. Otherwise they would have shown themselves already because they wanted to, or never bothered in the first place because they don't have the technology yet. Similarly, the idea that they would need to plunder our planet for resources in particular is equally unlikely because if they have the resources to get here, chances are they don't need ours. We already know about fusion power, which doesn't require fossil fuels -- in fact it uses hydrogen which is the most abundant element in the universe.
@Skoodelly3 жыл бұрын
@@CrizzyEyes you forgot that if they just want resources they can simple get them from other planets or our moons

With your skills in compositing, your fading hand looking slightly “off” has to be a deliberate nod to that issue in the original film. That is just beautiful attention to detail.
