Great video! Its good to see people helping each other like with your winch line years ago you were on your own there could be 20 guys standing around watching you struggle with the line and then scream at you for taking so long. until next time take care stay safe.

how was the pull up the hill? i was out west of caroline one time at roadtrain and had to chauffeur the crane into location. was a crazy steep hill and he wanted me to tie onto him and help out, buddy if you go backwards your taking me with you, i opted out of that one, he made it but he chained up, i never seen a 8x8 chained up. im sure a wire line truck would make them hills with all that weight you guys pack around

HOTDOG! You got all sorts of cool trucks in this video C500s, T800s, a few of Petes, and Western Stars. That big ol stank nasty Western Star bed truck 😍, was it 8x8? And at 32:24 is that a God dam? Awesome video man, thanks for sharing these!
@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Жыл бұрын
im sure thats a 8x8 yes, i see axles in the video i had to go back and look twice, used to be a howards transport truck and was brown . i just found this out today via my facebook group as i posted a wicked photo of it with a sub on as a brown truck, and clearly see its 8x8

You or your boss need to ask them if they are adjusting the brakes to have 1 1/2 inch of pushrod stroke, kind of sounds like they are setting them to tight

Watch application air on truck and trailer and compare for difference. sounds like a quick release valve is stuck.
@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Жыл бұрын
i was watching it today, im actually lucky i have trailer and tractor application gauges, i think the trailer is higher the truck, i was pulling a different trailer today and it was touchy too, plus its warm here this whole last month so i know there's no ice build up in the system, thanks for the tip, im going to really pay attention to it tomorrow

Would the guy's doing site work on a SOW be staying in camp at times...I wouldn't imagine they like a lot of high miles ??
@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Жыл бұрын
yes at times where your way out there or nearest hotel. the floaters only get hauled and drivers have company pick ups or pilot cars as they can not drive down the highways , some drivers haul the floater they run and the other beds with regular tires drive to and from leases or home base at average speed of 80 kph. high mileage no not normally. RT sow only had 150,000 kms on it and it was 2004 i think. floater operators really have it made, no worries about logs, or DOT since they only operate on private roads, drive pickups to and from location

some have them but we do not, i cant keep antennas on or in good shape. they seem to break in the ice fog we get, ive never had good luck with getting any distance out of them, ive never had a turned up one tho. the only timed i turned it on was to yell at the guy that just pulled out in front of me. we mostly run VHF

@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Жыл бұрын
yes, is typical to call and give some form of relevance to what your driving,tank trucks call empty for direction, heavy for they are loaded with fluids (empty heavy tanker km 26 buster creek). empty in loaded out, loaded light..........BC its up or down. i only call bobtail or what trailer im pulling or wide, as little as possible dont hog the channel with pointless words

Winter grease, summer grease. Is that like winter air, summer air in your tires? Asking for a friend 🥸
@TimelapseTruckerRTOT Жыл бұрын
no not the same, thinner vs thicker, same as motor oils, you'd run thicker in the summer to put up with the heat, just as thinner for winter to tolerate the cold. -40 summer grease bunches up and falls off when exposed to the elements. everything has to work harder, even shaking a load its more work with summer grease (allegedly) says new york times

do you clutch out of gear when down shifting? or do you blip the throttle to downshift? thanks for all the content man, you fucking rule.
@TimelapseTruckerRTOT8 ай бұрын
Float the greats always, only use the clutch to start out. The Cypris truck had a rev limiter so I got caught lots where I couldn’t blip the throttle to get it out of gear. So clutch it was. The odd time when it’s deep mud I might use the clutch to bang a gear
