I'm a fan of Timex. I was given one when I was sent overseas in the Marines. Being in the Infantry it went thru everything the military put me thru without a flaw. It's a rugged watch and now the shock model is even better!

Love this watch! It's on my wrist now and I don't even know it's there. Comfortable and lightweight. I was drawn to the large digital numbers as my eyes are approaching 61 years. Buttons are easy to press too! Easily set time and functions. Amen. I just reset the time as I've had it for almost a year and 1/2 as it gained 30 seconds. Fabulous. I don't do triathlons but this watch is my favorite compared to my G-Shock.

I bought that same Ironman model for a beater watch for work and it only lasted for about 3 to 4 months, the face was scratched up, the buttons started working on their own time and the nato strap snapped on it. Much respect to Timex Ironman and the indiglo back-light but Casio G-Shock has the top spot in durability and functionality in the digital world of watches......In my opinion.

I just stumbled across this one and will likely pick one up if I ever see it on sale. Main reason is nostalgia -- I had pretty much the same model back in the 90s as a kid. That watch broke and was tossed decades ago, so this would be my chance to have one again as part of my collection.

I just bought one for the same reason, it's also a great watch to wear when getting dirty with work. the only gripe I have is the new indiglo only lights up the characters where the old one lights up the entire background

I assume the straps can be taken off and replaced with another. I want to use the watch for the gym. And I'm planning on getting a velcro strap. But I'm wondering if it will apply to this watch

I've had this watch for quite a while and love it for all the reasons you mentioned, and the durability. Other than a G-Shock, it is hard to find watches that are shock resistant like this.

I have this exact watch. It's very accurate at keeping time, and I wear it daily. There is a trick to getting the watch band holder to release, place your finger on one side of the holder and your thumb on the opposite side of the holder, kind of rock the holder sideways back and forth and it will come unlocked with no problem or fuss. I've got to say this is a great watch for the price and the more I wear it the more I like it. Definitely won't go wrong with this watch.

Excellent review Simon. Very nice watch, functional and tough. I looked at at it but having a GG-1000 Ana-Digi G-Shock, it's similar function, though some extra things and extra price too on the Casio! I had a watch in my basket too and just pressed buy, a Casio AE-1200 better known as the Casio Royale! Only $20 equivalent. Looks fun too. I think this Ironman is an absolutely fantastic watch for the price. If I didn't have the G-Shock I'd go for this without hesitation.

Nice to see a Timex Ironman review - they don’t seem to get much attention at all from watch reviewers, which is a shame. Clear and easy to use, and pretty hard-wearing too. And they look good! Also, it’s nice to see the option of having DD/MM, and not just MM/DD - that’s one of the things that bugs me about a lot of Casio watches - so often the DD/MM option is not available. I’m not sure why, as I’d think it would be an easy thing to put into a module, and of course some Casios do have it. Not having the DD/MM option is actually a deal-breaker for me.

Thanks for the video. A couple of the things I like about Timex digital watches is that they usually allow you to change the Month:Date display to Date:Month. The other thing is that they usually have the battery size stamped on the back, too. Very useful if you replace them yourself. Thanks again.

I have different timex watches. I do really like timex and I love this timex shock. Is really really good watch, I like it a lot, the only thing that I don't like about this model is that the band is really really hard. And is super difficult to remove the watch from the wrist. The one that I love and I use more is the timex T5E231. The band is really soft and durable, and the LCD is way much bigger and I can see more the numbers, but the thing that I don't like about the timex T5E231 is that don't have to set the year at the watch, you just set the time and the month and the day of the month. But I use every day the timex T5E231. I switch sometime to different timex once in a while

I recently purchased this watch after spotting Pat Cash ex Wimbledon champion wearing this watch on BBC as a pundit for Wimbledon 2022" apparently he's been wearing ironman watches for over 30 years :) I've looked up the history of this particular watch and its definitely an iconic watch a classic from timex" even president Clinton wore this watch back in the early 90s' this re addition of the original ironman triathlon released in 1986 is shock proof and 200m wr and is so light and comfortable' it's cool to have a nice attractive retro digital watch with bags of history on my wrist ;) a great addition to watch collection would highly recommend this legendary timepiece good job on the review by the way.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Timex Ironman, this was my go to watch from jr high through high school, an absolute banger of a watch, great functionality and indiglo!!! These hold a special place in my heart, they are simply awesome and for 40 pound you have yourself a real winner. Can you tell I love Timex?! This one is awesome I have one very similar to it that I night at a local Walmart for about the same price I’ll send you a wrist shot of mine on IG.
