Good stuff. I can attest to that feeling of closing a losing trade. I recently shorted and lost 20% on a 10% portfolio position that I was too stubborn to close. The day I closed it, I felt like popping the champagne as if it was a winner. A huge weight was lifted. FYI - it continued to go another 20% against my original position after I closed it and it was the best money "I never lost". Lesson learned.

Really needed this video. Thanks Jason for all your gems & experience. Ignorant youngsters like me really need this. Trying to nit-pick here but yes, stocks do in fact blow up or down in gaps, so most of the time there's not "drifting" effect. Actually that's what made me lose money the most. -NVDA : +25% teleport gap on earnings -regionals banks : -20-50% on gaps on no earnings / news -Funds like Icahn crashed 20% instantly -Snapchat, airbnb, or even lululemon -20% then next earnings+20% then drifted -15% then gap up 15% etc etc... same situation -Also most moves happen on low liquidity outside RTH which means it's very hard if not impossible to get a reasonable price on reasonable volume. -It really seems like there's no "rule" anymore, any stock could gap +200% on no new, blow every short then go to 0 in a blip then do a 360° and go back to IPO price. I mean I don't even watch P/E or such but NVDA just made a massive bubble then corrected -70% then went 3x wtf ? It even didn't happened in cryptos when it was considered "stupid" or "gambling". I like to collect screens of charts and I'd say I have over 500+ screens of bubbles, and I couldn't find one with a -70% then 3x new highs on a gap not even retesting previous highs, it literally never happened before. Trading in these situations had been in fact for me a true suicide being long or short. The other way is to trade futures but unless you already have 1M to trade, having +\-20k $ moves with only 1 contract within 2-3 days is very hard to trade. Everyone said cryptos were dangerous, well, there is no possible gap on any top cryptos. And I made lot more money in crypto in 2018 and lost a lot less after the bubble than currently trying to trade stocks. Saying this because as you said before you lost a lot being short and you try to avoid being short because stocks drift up : I completely agree. Better get out or take a bath. Well thanks again I hope you'll keep sharing your insights & experience !

This reminds me of a guy on Twitter with a lot of subscribers to his trading service. He went short the ES futures at 4180 and added when it went against him. So did many of his subscribers. Even when many people were telling him to cut his position as soon as it goes against him. Also, get a new chair Jason!! It's getting worn out bro! lol

Stumbled upon your talk within the trader’s lion live event. Really enjoyed your humble presentation. Especially when you said you didn’t incorporate BTC/ETH due to laziness. Hahahaha. Sad that most of the Q&A’s questions had already been answered into the main presentation. Really enjoyed the concept of news failure. I remember you said you’d watch CNBC and look out for news headline with “Despite of” words. Guess that’s something I am going to blend into my trading / analysis. News failures. Guess it tells a lot about positioning ! Could you tell, without looking at the COT, that a market is overbought when it can’t rally on good news ? Really liked your insight about stop loss management. The fact that it’s better to stick to your initial position over the long run. Positioning + News failure + Market confirmation + Risk Management Thanks for sharing ! Love your shirt

I would follow that up by saying that you can go ahead and go short or long anything (not just NVDA) if you're a profitable speculative trader with the a process that says to go long or short. If you're not a profitable speculative trader, then I would buy and hold a basket of liquid ETFs covering the four major asset class (Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities and Currencies) and over a long enough holding period you may do at least just as well as a profitable speculative trader. The problem with "buy and hold" is that nobody holds! (except Buffet, Munger and a very select few)

Interestingly, if everyone would learn and invest like Jason is teaching, then his teachings would be worthless, bcs everyone would get out of short positions immediately as soon as new highs happened and if new lows present, then everyone would get out of longs. Volatility would vanish and the market would become a real discount mechanism of earnings. Lol
