2nd banana is a very special talent! Gift of gab, better at listening which is golden. In the moment with that quick dry wit is incredible really. Steve, clarify parents traveling with children. Vacationers can be dreadful because if you’re toxic at home…true travelers of a certain intelligence KNOW their children can be enriched. Yes Steve, probably not the norm lol. Having worked around resorts for years, let me just say my now 42 yr old son was well behaved 🤔😝🙏🏻
@steverosse4 ай бұрын
What children need, other than love and education and medicine and food and a roof over their heads, is stability. Change is never seen as a good thing by a child. No child has ever said, "Dad, I really want to be educated by a succession of international schools." No child has ever said, "Mom, I want to live in a variety of homes." Children say things like, "I want a bicycle for Christmas" or "I want to join Boy Scouts." Children never ask to go live in another country. When parents raise their children while travelling it is because their job demands it and there's no alternative, or, more often, because the parents want to travel. That's selfish as hell.
@restlesssoles194 ай бұрын
I think that Steve has it wrong again...I think it is far better to travel growing up than it is to stay in one place, (especially middle America), lol. Moving around and experiencing different locations, different countries and cities actually prepares them for the changes that are coming in their lives. As we know, the only constant is change, so a child who experiences change as a child is more easily able to adjust to the changes, which gives them a definite advantage over those who never or rarely left their hometown. Not to mention, that a traveler kid grows up to be much more rounded mentally, has more street knowledge, and has better stories to tell than the ones who are fed a false sense of security that leaves them with mental issues... Maybe. 😊
@steverosse4 ай бұрын
Bullshit. I was in seven schools by the seventh grade, and had lived in eight homes. I saw Mexico, Thailand, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Guam before my tenth birthday. It made me unable to trust and unable to form long-lasting friendships. More street knowledge? And what does "rounded mentally" even mean? WTF Dude?

@paulsumner55644 ай бұрын
You said growing corn which isn't used for foodstuffs was immoral! How is using the land for growing tobacco which is also a non foodstuff any different?
@steverosse4 ай бұрын
@@paulsumner5564 Because you can't grow tobacco in Iowa and you can't grow corn in West Virginia. That land has never been used to grow corn, at least not at the scale we grow it in Iowa. Our land is the most expensive in the US because millions of years ago the glaciers pushed great piles of fertile soil from Canada down into the center of the United States: Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, etc. Our topsoil is twelve feet deep. Corn has a six-foot taproot. West Virginia is mountainous and has comparatively shitty soil. So they grow what they can, which is mostly tobacco, but they buy their corn from Iowa.

I don’t think it’s ’woke bullshit’. It’s just an opinion that the character could evolve and, perhaps, appeal to a different audience. But I think Ian Fleming would be turning in his grave.

@steverosse Without doing any research, I believe that most of the 007 audience is young males trying to identify with the studly Bond character, wanting to *be* him. Women movie goers have proven that they rarely support feature films just bc there is a female lead, at least to the point of making them financially successful. Perhaps a couple of exceptions.

Some backstory on the discussion of The Man With The Golden Gun. I was a SGT in the US Army serving with the Military Police in Bangkok when the movie was filmed in 1974. The chase scene started at the Chok Chai building on the corner of Sukhumvit Road and Soi 26. The Chok Chai advertised itself as the tallest building in Bangkok then. The Chok Chai was the location for numerous US military organizations. It also housed the 500th Military Intelligence Group and displayed a roof covered in long-range radio antennas. Several agents assigned to the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) participated as local drivers in parts of the road race through Bangkok. The Thai police officer who handcuffed the sheriff was a Thai police officer who worked/liaised with the CID. In November 1974, I watched the movie in a Fayetteville, North Carolina theater and recognized the Thai police officer. In 1982, I was in the USAF on temporary duty in Thailand. I was in the US Embassy and met with the DEA. The Thai police officer from the movie was then working with them. We recognized one another, and I remarked that it looked like his movie career hadn’t worked out he didn’t think my Army career was looking too good either.
