Since capsaicin isn't the only "spicy" molecule, you can actually be sensitive to some spicy foods but not others. I can eat Wasabi, spicy horseradish, and hot mustard with no problem, but Jalapeños and Tabasco are too much for me.

I'd totally recommend to anyone to try spicy food at least with some meals, even if it's just a few dabs of hot sauce. The feeling of heat really opens your tastebuds up which makes food taste stronger, at least to me that is. When i order spicy food when I'm eating with friends, it's not to show off, it's because i think it tastes better. At nandos i always order extra hot because I've built up a tolerance and it's the only sauce that feels hot. Fun mini story, one of my friends is indian and she hosted a Christmas party in December for our group. She made drinks for everyone and included some more aromatic spices in there and i was able to guess every single one. She said "no offence, but i wouldn't expect a white person to get them all right"

That's really interesting! Can't say I've had the same experience - I enjoy a bit of cinnamon or ginger, maybe even a tiny dab of Tabasco sauce in my eggs, but anything that truly counts as 'heat' and not just 'seasoning'? Instant pain that no flavour can pierce and which just gets worse as more of the spicy food is consumed. Which is sad - spicy food smells so good! And seriously, thanks for explaining why spicy food is good to you, that's good to know and a bit of information I'll hold onto!

My husband LOVES spicy food, and he swears his taste buds have pretty much become immune to all but the spiciest of peppers. He’ll make a cheese dip made with habanero and serrano peppers and eat a bite and be like, “hmm, there’s a slight warmth in my mouth.” And I try it and I have to drink milk to get my mouth to cool down. 😂

I have a few spicy food stories but this ones my favorite, or least most told When i was dating my ex she and i went to a bowling alley one day and ordered the 2 flavor of wings Well we didnt realize til we got it that one of the wings was Spicy, and my gf cannot do spicy food At All. So being the good bf i was rather than splitting the 2 sets of wings as planned i ate all the spicy ones myself Honestly wasnt to bad i felt fine, honestly had much worse before and since then. Not much a story is it? Well the story really began The Next Day Im helping my dad in the garage when i suddenly need to use the bathroom So to give some perspective i have a tiny bathroom. When you sit on the toilet the door knob is right next to your face on your right side So as i start to use the bathroom, it is Pure Burning Diarrhea. It is pure Acidic Fire coming out my rear end. I grab onto that door knob with both hands and im SCREAMING at the top of my lungs as im flailing my legs around like im anthony daniels in dumb and dumber or dancing like michael jackson on stage half the time It was PAINFUL. Im sitting there screaming and holding onto that door knob for dear life as im twisting my legs around in pain FOR 20 MINUTES. By the end of it im crying, leaning against that doorknob that my hands are still clinging to as if its the only thing keeping me tethered to this mortal plane of existence I could barely walk I could barely stand And despite being only 20 feet from the garage somehow my dad didnt hear me screaming for the lord of milk and honey to bless my ass with the feeling of relief that would not come
