Lyrics:
A prisoner of your love
Entangled in your web
Hot whispers in the night
I'm captured by your spell
Captured
Oh, yes, I'm touched by the show of emotion
Should I be fractured by your lack of devotion?
Should I?
Should I?
You better be good to me
That's how it's got to be now
'Cause I don't have no use
For what you loosely call the truth
You better be good to me
Mmm
I oughta think it's oh, so right
How we don't need to fight
We stand face to face
And you present your case
Yes, I know
You keep telling me that you need me
And I really do wanna believe
But did you think I'd just accept you in blind faith
Oh, sure, baby
Anything to please you
But you better be good
And I really don't see
Why it's so hard to be good to me
And you know-
I don't understand what's your plan (why can't you be?)
That you can't be good to me (why can't you be?)
No I can't feel (why can't you be?)
I surely cannot see
Why can't you be- (why can't you be?)
(Good, good, good)
Be good to me! (good, good, good)
'Cause I don't have no time for your overloaded lies
And I don't have no use for what you loosely call the truth
You better be good to me
Yeah, you better be good!
Be good to me!

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC HISTORY September 15, 1984 - 36 Years Ago: Tina Turner debuted at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart with her single, "Better Be Good To Me." This Nicky Chinn-Mike Chapman-Holly Knight-penned song was Turner's 3rd charted single off of her multi-Platinum Top 3 album, "Private Dancer" while the 2nd single, "What's Love Got To Do With It," was in its 3rd and final week at No. 1. "Better Be Good To Me" peaked at No. 5 on November 24, 1984 and earned Turner a Grammy for Best Rock Female Vocal ending Pat Benatar's streak of winning in that category for four consecutive years. It was one of a handful of Grammys Turner won in 1985 with her album and the continued sold-out venues for her concert tours that followed are considered one of the greatest comebacks in rock and roll history.
