Sweet comment. Ike Turner is, more than likely, behind our loss. Fantastic talent has behind it, a real, genuine quality, which Ike did not recognize in himself. Without Tina, Ike was one lost parasitical soul. Tina had star quality from the start; genuine. Think of Tina like a rare musical instrument with her exact timing; Ike doubles up on, then knocks out of alignment, quite fiercely. Return comes as it should to Tina; but, now each time accompanied by some artificial sound/ light or way Ike got going, like a pattern. Artificial, because Tina is not composed of Ike's brutality, we all know that. Someone's song, hence sound, is likened from that point on to repeat sound. Note the "doubling" in the organ confounded and taking Tina from us. Parasites, like Ike, grab on in unknown light to someone like Tina; doubling up, creating discourse, generally taking someone's life in this process. Genuine does not seek another to reside on and knowledge was not available to Tina as to how to halt such process that she probably did not operate as a part of. However, this type knowledge will sure halt it! Hope this helps and maybe, this being artificial, all is not truly gone.❤ Rebecca Ann Grubb

This is the best " Proud Mary" video . Tina is like a super heroine with that gold cape and those heels. It looks like the late 70s , early eighties era when she got away from shithead Ike and she was rebuilding her career . I can see a freedom , confidence, and URGENCY in here : like a lioness thats been caged and she is free and kicking ASS. Tina is on fire here . I LOVE ME SOME TINA TURNER.

This was the guttsiest and most rocking gig on video that Tina ever performed. For me this was Tina at her rocking best, and all before the big hair, Private Dancer and eventual superstardom. But it's this Tina, the struggling rock chick playing small joints and cabaret joints, and playing second fiddle that interested me most. And yes, this version of Proud Mary was never bettered. Notice how it picked up momentum as it reached its climax. This must have been the best and most rocking band she ever performed with. And what about the brilliant pianist Kenny Moore, sadly no longer with us Isn't it time to release this on blu-ray.
