Love those old Pioneer/Partners!! Can’t wait to see it scream through some logs!

That squish is just fine. No need for machine work. Id like to see Tinman using different way to map the cylinder instead of degree wheel. You would measure port heights, widths and radiuses. Then use computer software to determine what to do to get for certain rpms 😊

I noticed after grinding on a lilred barn piston, my opinion is the piston will transfer easier (melt) easier cause cuts like cheap Chinese aluminum, now when I ground on a pioneer 1200a piston for my homelite it wore out my bur it was so hard

If I am being completely honest, I would not do much to it. If it were me pulling wrenches, I would leave it stock or send it off to someone who knows what they are doing with these old sweethearts. That is why I like watching Harvey and Tinman videos. I learn.

Just a quick word of advice, always do whatever you can to get your timing wheel to run as true axialy as possible. You can be off a few degrees with that much runout. Much love as always Tinman!

My p-40 has an exhaust bridge, with that i widened the ports. Exhaust landed at 105 transfers at 122 after some light machine work. And a pop-up piston. Left those numbers as I think the tremendous amount of case compression could handle the short blowdown. Added a boyesen power reed and a 272xp carb. She runs phenomenal.

Good day Tinman! I saw you liked the idea of running your diesel heaters exhaust through a cast iron rad. In the spirit of saving space in there and this might be wacky but what about exhausting through your wood stove in a way that takes advantage of the heat. Also that way you would have a preheated stove for when you want to have a fire 🔥

I'll tell ya what I'd do with it, I'd send it to the Tinman! Love for the old iron, thanks for the video✊🏻

-Lighten the piston, run one ring. - cut the base, .025 squish -Tinmanize the lowers - Ex = 100° -BD = 23°

Not sure what to do, but would like to see you do a cylinder in a lathe sometime. Make it a stud at least!

It looks to me like you need to check the ring in the exhaust port.they can cause damage down the road.

Dude pullers are your best friend :) I have SO many different pullers, some I already had, MOST I bought trying to get the clutch off my sachs dolmar 133....and those 4? I bought didn't even do the trick! Ended up making my own that worked great LOL!

Just have the piston in for Mach up?

I went 106 on exhuast on a xl12, 23 on blow down and it runs great, I also put an 8 pin sprocket no problem

Are you still looking for a 395 to build? Goodfellers is selling a lot of 4 running 395's 3 long blocks (395) and a big box of parts to go with for 3k!

No idea honestly. Cut base 15 thou leave transfers exhaust at 100? Experiment with transfer timing after she's running! Gonna be sweet either way I'm sure

Where can you get a degree wheel that is 180 180 instead of 4 90s?
@tdawg86055 күн бұрын
I wouldn't do to much, clean it up, maybe trench it if nessesary, bring down the squish but not much to do, the numbers are very decent. But what every you... it's gonna dance. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙

Machine the base for .025 squish, 101 exhaust and maintain the 20 degrees blowdown
@joebaldus35725 күн бұрын
I say put it on the lathe, and i would really like to see it.
@Magoot24565 күн бұрын
Could the reason why the older saws had smaller blowdown be because their exhaust wasn't completely choked out due to BS EPA garbage? What ya think Mr. Tinman, could I be onto something there??? :)
@NickTaylor-lm1lv5 күн бұрын
Maybe machine the cylinder a bit. Bring it down to around 20 squish. Widen the transfers and lighten the piston then pipe it. Not sure if any of that would make a difference but that's why I enjoy watching.
@tinmanssaws5 күн бұрын
I bet all of that would help
@NickTaylor-lm1lv5 күн бұрын
@tinmanssaws I guess that would change the timing bit also. So not sure if raising the exhaust a hair would make a difference. Except put it back close to stock time.
