So freaking good as usual Sol State.. thanks for the edits delivering the best bits. Now I just need a super producer showing how to use and process full drum loops that come in sample packs and I'll be happy.. Bros I know I should build my own drums but some of those full drum loops in sample packs/ splice are sooooo dope.. Anyways, thanks again for the great edits, Sol State!!!!
@SolStateMusic

Thanks Richard! Great to hear it's helping. Personally, I think you're goal should be to make the best musical possible - loops or no loops. Zedd mentioned this in his video too. What is it you dont like about your drums now?

@@SolStateMusic The tips and advice are all so amazing. These pros definitly know their stuff and sharing this knowledge with us is unbelievable!! 👍🏼👍🏼 So, just like everyone, I use splice or buy lots of sample packs. I have noticed that when I write in my drums(kick, claps, hats, snares, percs etc etc) they are okkkkk until I listen to full drum loops from sample packs or splice! Those full loops just have so much more character, bounce, vibe etc etc(obviously programmed by producers who are way more experienced than a lot of us.. This got me thinking about just using these full loops.. you know, (with all the drum elements all in but editing out parts of the loops for the different sections of my track) from intro to break to build to drop to outro of any track idea I have. Of course I should build my own drum tracks, I know this 100%...but like I said before, some of these full drum loops are so much better(for example, the full drum loops in Toolroom packs) and I always wonder if its bad to use them in full as they are from the pack in my daw.. and best ways to process them so they pop even more on a track.. Anyways, I'm rambling on.. I'm sure all of us who are learning to make music could go on and on with these types of questions.. Just wanna say thanks again for your video edits of these pro producers tutorials n streams... 👍🏼👍🏼😀😀

@@richardcole8853 An interesting tip I picked up from a producer called Marsh (excellent producer) is to open a sampler which can slice up samples. I use Fruity Slicer in FL Studio. So you can slice up the loops and pick out which elements you want from the loop e.g clap, snare, hi-hat. This gives you more control over the loop and allows you to put your own spin on the loop and you can combine different loops to get a more interesting groove. Also, in case you change the bpm of the project, the audio doesn't lose clarity due to stretching since its in the sampler!
@richardcole8853
@richardcole8853 3 жыл бұрын
@@kalemamusic Ohhh yeah, that's such a good tip.. I use ableton and the simpler there is really good. Of course I do believe in building up my own drums however some sample packs have such dope full drum loops that are way better than anything I personally can program. I even watched a twitch stream where Disclosure imported a full drum loop from a garage producer called jeremy Sylvester and then build their whole track around that loop. They did it in Logic and used lots of their pro level plugins to make it sound great.. Anyways, thanks for the tip bro.. very appreciated!!

Are there any tutorials for getting music ready for DSPs? I have loads of songs I've worked but I have absolutely no clue how to mix and master them ready for upload online .
@SolStateMusic
@SolStateMusic 3 жыл бұрын
What i know is that DSPs like Spotify continually change the loudness standards, which is why I don't chase them. If you're making dance music, just master to levels that sounds good -8 to -12 LUFS is a good starting point, and make sure it's not clipping master (I do -.3DB headroom). That's where most people get stuck. Mixing and mastering is a whole different beast. The Disclosure breakdowns are quite good for seeing the process of mixing/mastering. Hope that helps.

You may be listening too quiet. In this mix, his voice is much much louder than the song so if you aren’t listening loud you can miss a whole bunch of details. Also, be careful of your hearing when doing this.

LP can help especially on low end, but can also introduce pre-roll and workflow-latency. Natural phase and Zero latency also have their place. Personally, I wouldn't default to LP.

Why not use linear phase all the time then?
@turbochargedfilms
@turbochargedfilms 3 жыл бұрын
Pre-ringing and the latency of compensating for the time-delay that allows for phase matching in the first place can add up very quickly. Not to mention it can sound kinda unnatural/sterile sometimes precisely because you're not fucking up phase. All EQs have their place and using linear phase on everything instead of where it can benefit the signal is only going to hurt the process more than help it.
