You attitude and honesty about life is so refreshing to someone my age (56) and I take examples from YOU about how to care for my body, mind, and spirit. I appreciate you and Barron! You two are NOT cookie cutter. THe way that I see it, you both wanted a "homestead" to call home base where you can do any work/repairs/unwinding from traveling from all the road traveling/make plans to go places/etc where you are gaining extra personal growth without loosing yourself. Its not like you and Barron up and chose to build a mega house on property in a metro city and giving upon your dreams. We all through different life levels. Keep having fun. Thank you very much for creating videos and sharing for I find you both to be awesome. Not to mention the scenery in ALL the videos make me happy to see along makes me remember times that I was either in or similar places.

Apparently you can use beetle kill trees in construction and you have a whole forest of it near by you! Anyway. Just stay true to yourselves and dont worry about the silly cookie cutter comment!

My parents used to cook liver and onions and my brother and I would complain and not really eat it. So they would make it for themselves, in smaller amounts than what you guys had. Just now and then. They are healthy and both celebrated their 90th birthdays in October! I used to have a dirt bike as a kid, so I can relate to what a blast it is. You have inspired me in many ways, Elsa and Barron. I clipped an Ann Landers quote from over 30 years ago that, at my age of 59, has been my “touchstone” for years: At age 20, we worry about what everyone thinks of us. At age 40, we don’t care what they think of us. At age 60, we discover they were never thinking if us in the first place!

I think the direction your channel is taking is a good one. I think a lot of nomad youtubers and probably others (AKA VANLIFE) have realized over the past two-ish years that even though they didn't have huge mortgage debt, and even though they were technically off the grid, they were still relying on the supply chain. To truly be stable and mostly self-sufficient you need to be able to source your own food and water, which takes land, time, and know-how. Curious to see how the next chapters in your story unfold!

I've watched the two of you become self aware. That's a really special thing to watch and observe in others. It's never ending... Reality and existence is like an onion. (The old cliches' ring true) and it just unpeels layer by layer. So do you two. 🤷🏼♀️ As we increase our awareness we become more uncomfortable with the noticeable division between ourselves and the image we portray. There's no right or wrong way... So no worries. An ounce of worry never paid a pound of debt. It's a brilliant journey watching you two. Cookie cutter was never in the cards for you two.

Yes. I totally agree! If you stayed the same, isn't that more cookie-cutter-esque? I've read comments like that a lot though as many of the van traveler's needed to do something else during the lock down of the pandemic. "I've seen homesteading. Since that's what your channel is about now I'm going to un-subscribe!" I've seen that or statements like it several times and I was kind of pissed by them. Am I the only one who fell in love with the content makers and was interested in their CHANGING lives? Ok. Not the ONLY one. But I found it disheartening for all of the threats of "since you're no longer exactly what I want, I'm outta there" type comments. I'm excited for any and all of the changes as you step into the next phase of your lives. Congratulations on your new office and and and all of the next things as they happen.

Couple of tips with cooking the liver, Firstly pop some slices/pieces in a bowl of milk for 20 minutes, this helps keep it tender, then have another little bowl of seasoned plain flour on hand, take each piece out of the milk and then coat in the flour and straight into a medium hot frying pan. the key is NOT to over cook it. Its ok if its a little pink in the middle and also you don't cook all the nutrients out of it. Delicious ! :) By the way you guys rock, and for what its worth I cant wait to see you guys build some cool place to live in, The Scamp will always be there for super awesome road trips x

I have never thought of y’all’s identity to be defined by living in a scamp. I’ve thought of it as an alternative lifestyle, an eco-friendly lifestyle, a learning as you go, meeting new people, and discovering different landscapes lifestyle. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and by watching tiny house videos, even though when I build a more permanent home it will not be a scamp or tiny house (but it will still be modest). Don’t hold yourselves to others’ criteria. Be true to who you are. People are meant to evolve and do different things. Your videos will adapt along the way, and those who don’t like it no longer have to watch.

You two are so far being "cookie cutter" it's ridiculous. I'm super excited to see what you all are living in next year. Stay safe out there and have fun!

And what is wrong with being cookie cutter? Keep being yourselves. Enjoy.

@@linhdasagen6498 it’s means there are millions just like you…and I don’t know many people living in a scamp in the middle of the mountains.
@annacummings58413 жыл бұрын
I think that person is wrong. You're identity is NOT defined by the scamp, and you are definitely NOT "cookie cutter." I've been watching you guys for years and it's been a fun journey to watch you grow and change and move onto different adventures. Life is always changing and adapting to new situations and adventures and anyone who wants you to stay the same is ridiculous. As an Air Force brat, I thrive on change. I grew up moving every two years and even though I've spent the last 20 living in Alaska, I still manage to move around here and find new adventures just living here. I hope you make it up here one day, you will LOVE it. ❤️

Life changes. I’m looking forward to seeing your new homestead develop and change. That’s just as interesting as travelling to me, because there’s always something else to consider. I’ve got loads of tips off you both, both through your cooking, journaling, and also the things you make and the tech stuff Barron does. People need to think like Buddhists, accept that everything changes. 🙂 x

The office is absolutely gorgeous, unique and there is nothing cookie cutter about it or anything else you two do.. And you know what? Even if you were, you're exactly where you are supposed to be. You two are amazing (three i mean 🐾), totally inspirational and a joy to watch. Thank you for what you do. Also thank you for coming to my extremely long comment / TED talk. 💕

I have been watching your Channel for about 3-4 years. It’s so inspiring to see people go through different chapters in life and grow as human beings. Hopefully I will forever watch y’all’s journey in life for as long as you share it with us, Y’all rock 🤘🏼

You're just showing how people evolve, chase dreams. You two have done so much since I found your channel.

Elsa! You guys are anything but cookiecutter! You are super creative trailblazers and even more attractive is your spirit of curiosity and your inclination to share what you are learning. It is only human to grow and adapt to needs for change. I’m so glad that you have more dignity than those who just try to stay novel and entertaining here on You Tube. Those folks are sacrificing part of their humanity. Stay you. We love you.

I just enjoy the adventures, scenery, active hikes, exploring, dirt bike riding, food & drink, choice of clothes, equipment, everything!! If you decide on a homestead then I’ll watch that too. I think it’s the locations that you pick that are so beautiful to watch too. I love everything & I’ll continue to watch no matter what! Better than a movie. And I happen to love Yellowstone & I don’t think Kevin Costner knew what a great show was being created, or maybe he did & that’s the point. . I love Season 4. So anyway, I’ll support your videos 100%, Happy Anniversary & best of luck in everything you do. ❤️👍🏼

I agree with all the positive comments. I have loved your channel for all these years and have learned SO much and even put things into practice because of you guys. I will def miss the scamp videos and always look forward to them because I love the camp lifestyle, but I am also SO excited to see you can stuff and live off the land, and build a house! It is a lifestyle ive been slowly trying to transition to for years so the more I can learn the better! I am excited for the new chapters and excited for you guys, so at the end of the day - you do you - because you only get one life, and you guys sure as heck are living it! also - been loving the dirtbiking - literally my favorite off road vehicle!

In response to the cookie cutter comment from a previous video, I'll admit that maybe my initial interest in the channel was the unique lifestyle of life in a camper, but my interest in your progression in life has taken over. In fact I routinely point out to my daughter (11) that finding and making the joys in life, like you and Barron, is truly living. Yes there are hardships, mouse poops and pack rats, but they just add to the satisfaction. Power on! I look forward to seeing the channel content progress.

Loved you guys in the nomadic scamp life, and looking forward to your next adventures on your new land! Yellowstone was a bit too violent for me, but I seem to be the only one who thinks so, lol.

you do bring a lot of inspiration. I'm going through some major life changes, some expected and some REALLY not expected at the same time. I'm nervous and scared but also brave. I've been re-watching some of your old videos to help remind me that it's okay to be "lost in the right direction." Thanks for that :)

Your identity is you! The decisions you make, the way you grow and evolve and the new adventures you take on. I think this is fabulous, watching you shape a land to what you want it to be. I know the travel won't stop, but it's nice to see this new aspect. Cookie cutter would be doing the same thing day in and day out. This is different. This is new.

Would you be able to do your podcasts and Lives from there with a diesel heater? Happy 5 yr Scampaverssary! My hat is off to you. I just had my two year vanniversary. It’s easy to be an armchair nomad, not as easy to be an actual nomad. I would have done it entirely differently if I knew then what I know now. I am looking forward to a place to land. Any kind of liver is a no for me. I did a similar thing: I meant to buy pickled sliced beets but bought sliced beets.

It's such a tiny and well insulated space that we won't need the heater on long, and most likely not during the day with the sun coming in through the windows!

You never lost your identity, not that one should get wrapped up in that concept. From what I see, you guys try to live FREELY, and that means doing what you WANT. True freedom is also being free from ego and other people's opinions. Whoever made that comment sounds rather narrow-minded, and appears to miss the point -- I always thought the point of scamp-living, van-life, etc. was to just do what you wanted and not conform to societal expectations so much. You can't put people who live like that in boxes, which is sounds like they are doing just that! Ya'll do whatever you want, you seem like good people and so definitely have my support!
