The reality that most wild animals don’t live as long as those in captivity because of natural predators and possibly not catching enough food is just a reality that animal rescuers are aware of. Regardless of whether you’re a regular person rescuing a baby squirrel or raccoon, or you’re a full fledged rehabber that works with a group like this. I seriously hope and pray that this seal is alive and well and absolutely loving the ocean. I always worry when animals are released that they may feel abandoned. I know they probably don't, but if they've been with humans so long it seems likely. She is HILARIOUS and adorable, and I would love the heck out of this seal.

She is such a grumpy round chonk! I do hope she's well now. She's a great example how we are willing to save cute animals, seals are lucky to be large and cute. Small and ugly creatures are among the last in the queue. Pandas and seals? We'll care for them even if they don't want to procreate. Some obscure grey lizard, rodent, insect or bird? They are not attractive enough to receive charity. It's not the law, but it's the general trend.
