One great actress and one "should-have-been" great actress. I had the pleasure of meeting Suzanne Pleshette once in Pittsburgh; we accidentally bumped into each other. We talked for almost 30 minutes and she was genuinely one of the nicest people I ever met.

Tippi was pretty, but Suzanne was simply stunning. One of the most luscious women who ever lived; she reached the height of her beauty when on The Bob Newhart Show back in the 70s, when she was in her mid-30s to early 40s. Unfortunately, her heavy cigarette smoking led to her death from lung cancer in 2008 at age 70.

The interactions between the characters are what make this movie for me, the bird attacks are just incidental. Each major character is somehow introspective and each seems to have a yearning for something more in life. Curious how Annie moved to Bodega Bay to be near Mitch, yet he lived in San Francisco 5 days a week so not sure what the move was about except to possibly to be part of his family life as if she had married him. Kind of strange.
@jackcarl27722 жыл бұрын
I think you are probably correct about the motivation for the move, thank you for this insight.
@MVR326 Жыл бұрын
Very well said. However, as the complex tensions between the characters unravels , the bird attacks intensify, and very often they seem to be where Melanie is, almost as though she is their main target, hence, the final scene in the attic when Mitch and his mom try to rescue her, notice how none of the birds fly out into the hallway, almost as though this particular attack is focused on Melanie. There is a certain amount of truth, when the woman in the restaurant says ''They say when you got here, the whole thing started'' Truly a brilliant film

one theory that you hear sometimes is that Annie is Cathy's real mother, which would give a stronger motive for why she sacrificed her life to save the girl and why she followed Mitch out to Bodega Bay in the first place.

this actually passes the bechdel test wow

May I ask why?
@rosegold57203 жыл бұрын
@@smokinginmovies8707 it's because it has more than one female character in the movie, the females actually hold a conversation with each other, and the conversation isn't about a man. those are the checklist items and this movie passes, surprising when most films traditional and modern don't pass this seemingly simple test (that stems from feminist film theory)
