Actually, it would also make sense that Orchid would be front and center most of the time, cause the Earth is the construct that most people can comprehend at any given moment. Pearl, who's newer, representing the ocean also makes sense because we've barely even explored the ocean, making it more unknown, more "new" to us, and Comet who represents space, is well known but still mysterious, just like space is. Comet is also the most powerful/strategist cause they represent the vast expanse of the universe, the biggest space of them all :)

That's a really useful video, and these designs are amazing! You could have used some blueish green tones for the sea one, since they kinda match the sea theme, but I also understand why green could've been a hard color to work with (I have a green themed character and it's the hardest color to work with 😅). How do you get ideas for their weapons? I really struggle with that.

honestly it’s up to both personal preference (whatever you think looks coolest) and something that fits with their theme! i forgot to mention this in the video, but pearl’s weapon is a trident to go with the ocean theme! i like to think about both their theme and whether or not being a close range (sword, axe, etc) or long range (bow, gun, etc) fits more with their personality!

Magical girls, the genre, can have nuance, depth, complexity and angst, it's realistic and it's good writing. See: Madoka Magica or Princess Tutu, 2 classic iconic popular magical girl animes who are "downers" aka tragic tragedies with angst, darkness, betrayal, depth, complexity, etc. but, are also still gorgeous and beautiful and stay faithful and entirely respect the genre, especially, Madoka Magica, which, is a revolutionary iconic subversion/deconstruction of the genre, but, also, reconstruction of the genre. Even original and iconic Sailor Moon, which, popularized and pioneered the genre, had some "downer" moments and depth and angst and dark moments, but, it wasn't it's main thing. I'm saying you should balance it, have some angst and betrayal, have some hardships and struggling, have some tragedy, it's entirely and completely realistic, but, also, balance it or resolve it with happiness, joy, friendship, love, positivity, femininity and everything the genre is about and what it brings and represents. Like, Madoka Magica, and what Madoka Magica did. Op's concepts sounds interesting.
