One thing that really changed my game and let me move on was keeping my blades horizontal i.e. not bending inwards at my ankles. It's something everyone does when learning to roller blade, but when I started noticing it and counteracting it by consciously by adjusting my ankles I realised I had better balance, better control and I was able to do leg-over-leg whilst changing direction.
@Miister006 жыл бұрын
DJ Shuffle But what if your foot/leg always bends inwards towards your ankles, its how my foot is. is my posture bad? when i stand on 2 skates i feel weight on the outerparts of my feet but not in inner part of my ankles which feels very unusual
@SenimaSan6 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering the same thing! I actually have this problem on my left foot only and I wish I knew how to fix it. :c It hurts pretty bad.
@SifuPuma5 жыл бұрын
Rather than think of the boot as a piece of footgear I just visualize it as a platform that I am standing on. Of course you would want the platform to lay flat as that would keep your wheels going straight down and you would be standing on flat ground as our bodies are designed to.
@TheDarkPledge9093 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't do that, but mostly cuz I remembered vaguely in middle school someone saying to do what you said. Have tripped many times, but still have yet to actually fall!

+xanScorp Well.. i don't think you're gonna learn anything from swimming while wearing skates...
@xanScorp9 жыл бұрын
"Sink-or-swim" is a common analogy for learning by doing. How young are you to not know this? In my case it was just lace up some skates and go skating. Did I fall at first...yes. Did I learn...yes. (Almost fell forward too many times as before then I'd only been roller skating which has brakes on the front...but I learned)
@zrow99039 жыл бұрын
+xanScorp I thought my trolling would be obvious :P I am 19yo, amateur dutch - english translator and so i DO know what "Sink-or-swim" means. I just thought it would be funny to reply this way. The girl next door taught me to skate when i was 6... in the years after that, i taught myself how to skate backwards and jump, but damn... i probably fell more than 100 times ahahah... (mostly because we started using homemade ramps)

In-line skates or rollerblades are the 1 row of 4 wheels. Skates are the 2x2's so you can choose. If you were to go with the in-lines I'd choose something by K2. Most of their stuff is adjustable, so you can use them even if your foot grows.

I recently bought in line skates and feel that is more complicated than I thought. I have only used them twice (only have time on Sundays) for 2 hours first day and 3 the second which was today. I think I did better today than the first day, I can move but because I don't know how to stop yet I'm so scared of falling, hitting a pedestrian or crashing against something that I try to go very slow. I'll keep watching videos and practicing for a month or so if it doesn't work I'll probably just get a bike.

You will get the hang of it, I have a terrible fear of falling but am determined to master it. The best of luck.
@virus200311 жыл бұрын
Make sure to bend your knees a bit and lean forward. Falling backwards means your center of balance is too far back! Also, keeping the wheels at an angle to the ground, not perfectly perpendicular to the ground, will definitely help with your balance. I'm sure it'll "click" with you soon. Good luck!

@pedroskipr10 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to read that. You need to practice balance with each foot. I recommend you step down on a grass, and then lift one feet and try maintaining balance as most as you can. Do that with each leg so you can learn balance. The trick is to control your balance. If you haven't tried that, you should. When you gain control of your balance, it will be a piece of cake. I hope you get better.
