Definitely agree with you on that marketing does not need to be expensive. This I learned the hard way after dumping $10,000 into marketing services when I actually got more clients through my Instagram and email campaigns which were FREE! If there is anything to invest money into, it is a good accountant and lawyer. They can save your business and save you tons of money

I've learned that when it comes to employees/coworkers, more than just "smart" people, you need people who are willing to learn and receptive to feedback. No matter how smart someone is, if they are stubborn and only want to do things their own, it makes it incredibly difficult to train them in the first place and almost impossible to work with in the future. I worked with someone who graduated from Columbia and I had to train her because I had seniority. She would NOT listen to anything I or anyone else told her because she had this mindset that she was better than everyone else but tbh, we all ended up in the same place so...

Being in business school right now, your point on referencing concrete points during performance reviews is CRITICAL. You can't afford to dance around issues when it comes to work. The only thing I would add is positive affirmation throughout is key as well. Creates a positive work environment and motivates workers more than a three month dopamine hit

Many small business people (and accountants unfortunately) think accounting is just for taxes but they can show you so much more about your business if you set them up thoughtfully. Accounting reveals the secret code to your business if you're paying attention.

I love this video. I’ve worked for our small business for almost 7 years and everything you said is true, especially the trial period and the receipts! As a manager, I think one of the hardest things for small businesses is that you may be afraid to let people go because you need the manpower. But if a person doesn’t align to your core values and is toxic or difficult to rein in, it doesn’t matter how productive or smart they are. They’re just not a healthy addition to your team. I’ve learned it the hard way and realizing this has made it much easier to deal with certain situations. I’ve also come to realize that growing pains for a small business can have repercussions if you hire too many too quickly. I know you have a pretty established brand at this point, especially with a core viewership, but make sure to scale and grow within reasonable limits! When a small team is stretched far on new initiatives or training new members, it can cause burnout, tension, resentment, etc. I hope this is helpful! I love your videos and wish you tons of success! You’re doing amazing and I love seeing how you’re growing over the years!
