Brents passing was untimely. Then Jerry, It all fell apart for me. saw Jerry at Eastcoast shows, everything from a few hundred people to full stadiums. on Broadway also. first show was Englishtown dead 75 I think. miss it now I play it all on guitar keys and more.

I saw the Dead more times than I can remember (never once after Jerry passed) but JGB Shows were always so special. Jerry always seemed more relaxed and so comfortable with the smaller band. They were nights I hold dear and at the time enjoyed so very much.

It's actually pretty easy. Just play your guitar 16 hours a day for 30+ years and you can do it too :) not down playing your observation I fully agree. I saw Merle Saunders a couple years after Jerry passed at a bar in WI, and the lead guitarist was incredible, during break me and my bud ran into the dude and offered him a joint, Exclaimed what a great guitar player he was, and he said you can do it too, just spend two years playing 16 hours a day, that is what I am doing! Got to look up who that was some day... anyway keep on keeping on...

To imagine , Jerry's dear soul had to go through this stuff far too many times losing a friend way too soon and then had to go out on stage to entertain all of us , just so we could forget about our troubles for one night . When someone in the act dies , the show must go on . They all had big shoes to fill , it's a tough act to follow . It's funny though , nobody seemed to learn anything from death , folks still "OD"ing to this day . Talent lost way too soon .

The comment about Brent is extremely disrespectful and tasteless. That being said, thanks for uploading this.
@viralvideoguy19883 жыл бұрын
Right. For context: "On September 1, 1990, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, the Jerry Garcia band performed a particularly poignant kind of magic. A Grateful Dead show was originally scheduled for that date but was cancelled due to the untimely death of the Dead's brilliant, passionate keyboard player, Brent Mydland, in late July. Rather than cancel the gig, the Jerry Garcia Band stepped in to deliver one of their most heartfelt performances."
