The UFC pays USADA. Of course there is a conflict of interest. In the beginning they took down a lot of UFC stars, and then all of a sudden they took a back seat for a few years, and now they only bust mid/low tier fighters. Or people they don't really see a future in. They don't bust superstars anymore. USADA is there so the casuals can sleep at night.

Explains why Jon Jones was given every unnecessary benefit of the doubt by USADA. He's one of the greatest fighters and puts butts in seats, for him to keep testing positive for steroids, getting suspended and stripped was a terrible look. For two scheduled fights in a row there was the pulsing picogram situation which was honestly just USADA pulling the wool over the eyes of fans as Turinabol (the drug he kept testing positive for) doesn't pulse yet USADA very conveniently changed their testing so now they won't flag anyone who has less than 100/mg of an illegal substance inside them, even though its almost certain said fighter was caught with illegal substances toward the end of their steroid cycle. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but its all a bit too sus and convenient for Jones and the UFC.

@kylerBD Жыл бұрын
@@nikoc8968 Yeah I'm dead serious. The competition aspect is already not fair. Usada turning a blind eye, ufc possibly paying them off, designer steroids, which are likely what jon jones takes, I say that with confidence because for a few of his fights he literally has female testosterone levels, something which is completely impossible for an athlete like him, which is caused by suppressing your natural testosterone production via steroids. Also another thing I can quickly list off, bio-identical steroids, such as testosterone and human growth hormone. Both of which levels vary greatly person to person and are very hard to test for. With all these massive and near impossible problems to fix, how can you possibly think testing is worth it? The only possible way to have a completely steroid free sport would be to have a machine that can read your brain and directly scan it for lying, which would have to be 100% accurate. Also, 2 final points The people who physically respond extremely well to steroids are the same people who would dominate in a completely natural sport. People who are naturally very muscular or have great endurance naturally are the same people who respond very well to steroids, giving them an even greater effect from using them. There are clear signs the top 5s in all the male divisions are juicing, but somehow, whichever way that may be they are getting away with it. So, what the fuck is the point in continuing to ban them? The only reason would be to continue this lie to lawmakers and politicians that this brutal sport is fair as it can be.

They often start them off as young as 16 with the premise that they re giving them supplements/vitamins and once they re pro they dont care anymore cause they know everyone does it. The companies making the steroids are far ahead of the ones testing because they have to catch up to the new methods they thought of to avoid detection.

@@mockdr I'm not a reporter or anything, but I call it as I see it. I can't see my original comment for some reason, but here's the details as I understand them. In 2016, Yoel tested positive for ibutamoren. He sued a supplement company named Goldstar Performance products over an alleged tainted supplement for $27 mil and won a default judgment, as the company never showed up to court. For a number that huge, not showing up is corporate suicide, especially since Goldstar wasn't a big company at all. (for the real freaks out there, the case name is YOEL ROMERO v. GOLD STAR DISTRIBUTION, LLC, in New Jersey, last updated in 2021) They used to have a website, but that's not even around anymore. There was no way to buy products from a company that sells supplements. The pages all looped into one another. I actually had a web designer friend look at the code of the website and there was basically no way for the site to take your money. The number to contact them connected to another pharmacy entirely. You can't dig it up on the Internet Wayback machine either. Look at their social media. Really look, not just scan over. Look at the dates. It’s all as shallow as a kiddy pool and never posts or gets engagement after 2018. The timeline is very telling too. He fought with Chris Weidman and broke an orbital bone in his face on November 12th, 2016. He tested positive for ibutamoren, which makes you produce more Human Growth Hormone than normal. Derek from More Plates More Dates says this drug failure makes no sense because fighters have to cut weight and Ibutamoren makes you retain water. I contest that the substance makes sense if he was between fights and was trying to recover a broken orbital in a faster than human timeline so he can get back to training to prepare for his next fight in July 2017. Since the lawsuit, the settlement has been reduced by over half in an appeal to a higher court. I'm too tired to read the 50 odd pages of court proceedings to figure out exactly how much and I'm reading conflicting things across news sites. A reasonable person might imagine his management set up a fake company in advance of him testing positive for anything and then they put the plan into action when he popped. No hard sources and basically no coverage, but it is SUPER sus the whole way through.

One of the ways to avert many of these issues is to test for irregularities in cellular and organ/ system functions over a prolonged period of time, in which any non-explainable deviation (eg sudden increase in muscle growth or oxygen carrying capacity, etc) would raise flags for further testing/ scrutiny. If that makes sense. Downsides to this would obviously be that this process is much more complicated and the pathological as well as physiological analysis is much more intensive compared to a simple blood/urine/serum antigenic/ chemical test. Also, figuring out a set of standardised criteria to track over a prolonged period will also require some thought.

When I was 11 years old, my mother stopped me from getting into boxing when I asked her. I have a simple choice reaction time of 125ms and my T levels are far above average. I went to some boxing, mma and jiu jitsu practice and sparring later in life and excelled at it. However, seeing how far doping has gotten, I'm glad she stopped me. The fighting sports world is filled with con artists, and I would have gotten myself hurt by going up against these cheaters.

I think fight fans just don't care about steroids that much. Adesanya literally got gyno out of nowhere and no one cared
@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
They do still care. Its just a top fighter hasn't popped in a long time. The last time Jones popped was back in 2019 for 'pulsing picograms' which was heavily downplayed by the UFC and USADA. TJ Dillashaw popping for EPO caused unanimous outrage among fans. A lot of fans cared when Adesanya had gyno. A top fighter needs to pop for the fans to spring into action and condemn the cheater.

We want to see these guys fight, and often. They train incredibly hard and suffer serious injuries we don’t even hear about half the time. I really don’t think a little growth hormone for recovery is going to jeopardize the sport. Reason I don't like the "Jon Jones can't be goat since he has been popped" arguments. Roid use runs rampant on local mma gyms with guys who don't have any monetary incentive to cheat but you mean to tell me that everybody stops when they get to the highest level and are fighting for huge amounts of money? Also testing is flawed. Adesanya is considered clean fighter who has never cheated even though he grew a fucking tit before a fight. Like you said USADA is good at limiting the most ridiculous roid use but they can't make cheating fully stop.
@bluesphere4860 Жыл бұрын
Ok, there are a number of things wrong with that argument. 1. It's arguing from a place that *excuses* Jon's PED use, not proving that he's clean. While you can tell yourself that it's okay for Jon to cheat 'because everyone else is too' that does not excuse the fact that he's been caught juicing repeatedly and tried to pass off as a clean fighter, only ever owning up to it when he was caught. I don’t know how else to tell you this since it should really be self explanatory, but anybody who consciously cheats and tries to get away with it, should not be in the discussion of who is the goat. 2. It doesn't address why Jon Jones *specifically* is targeted for PED use, that being the frequency that he's popped for them. Cheaters can get away with what they want to a lot of the time, but rarely can get away with it *every* time. This means that the cases that are caught are typically either a.) aggressive over juicers who are bound to be caught due to how frequently they take substances or b.) it’s some type of false positive or a positive that comes in over something stupid and excusable. To be a fair, I think most people won't assume the worst of a fighter and will give them a bit of leeway when they supposedly test positive for something. And I think anyone can look at Nick Diaz's 5 year ban over smoking pot as stupid and excessive. And like one of Jon's cases, tainted supplements are things that are entirely understandable and doesn't need to have all that much attention drawn to it. So a handful of times I'm sure Jon can be excused, but how many times has he been caught? Falsely and accurately alike, fighters that typically test positive for something are usually only ever caught once or twice, maybe three times. But Jon has been caught *4 times* with some smaller instances taking that number up to 6. That is *not* a normal thing that happens to normal fighters. At a certain point, things stop being false positives or excusable understings. He has been caught juicing *repeatedly* and *consistently* which is such a testament to how aggressive of a cheater he is, when in all likelihood there are almost certainly many more cheaters who have flown under the radar. TJ was only popped once and basically admitted to building a good chunk of his career off of it. And even ignoring all the other shit in his personal life, are we really going to pretend like Jon isn't a dirty fighter? There's no reason there should ever be eyepoke compilations for any single fighter. It would be entirely reasonable to assume that he's the type of person who would juice up, and aggressively so at that. 3. It seems to imply that *literally everyone* in mma is on steroids as a way to excuse Jon. While we'll basically never really know for sure who really is and isn’t a steroid user outside of extreme cases, I think it’s kind of an outlandish claim to make that *literally every single fighter in the UFC* is juicing, or at the very least the vast majority at the upper echelon of the sport. While I love Nate as much as the next guy, I think that's really more hyperbole meant to bring light to the actual situation at hand. I think it's more realistic to say that about 60% of fighters are taking some form of PED's. *Obviously* problematic, but I think by rolling with 'everyone is on steroids' you're discounting the achievements of actually clean fighters. Other people like Demetrius Johnson and GSP who are in the conversation for being the goat are actually clean fighters (unless you count GSP's vaseline use even remotely on par with steroids, in which case I'm inclined to not take anything you say seriously at all). And while we're on the tpoic, I think it’s safe to say that Adesanya is a pretty clean fighter too since he doesn't even bother weight cutting; which is not only basically sanctioned cheating, but it is also a significantly bigger advantage than any type of PED use.
@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
@@bluesphere4860 This, this and this. You hit every nail on the head. Others fighters being on steroids in NO WAY exonerates Jones' drug cheating and thus green lighting the GOAT argument for him. Given how many times he's tested positive for steroids, he's lost every benefit of the doubt or leeway. Jones' career has thus be viewed with a healthy degree of suspicion, his word cannot be trusted and certainly not his actions, its like a criminal who keeps committing crimes, mostly getting away with but occasionally getting caught and lying about it. They needed to be watched because its not a matter of IF, they WILL do the wrong thing. Coincidentally Jones has also committed crimes and infringements outside the Octagon, his last one was especially heinous that honestly should have ended his MMA career. But there's more to it, Jones had extremely low testosterone levels after his first fight with DC. His T/E levels were so low for a world-class athlete the only explanation for them was either steroid use/abuse, or literal castration. I can't think of a more clear cut example of Jones cheating.
@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
Other fighters being on steroids in no way exonerates Jones' drug cheating and thus green lighting the GOAT arguments for him. The man got caught, multiple times, plain and simple. That means something, saying 'everyone's on steroids' is painting every other fighter with a broad brush with a guilty until proven innocent argument which is not how it works. Everyone is innocent of cheating until they pop, at which case they need to prove their innocence. Jones has not been proven innocent, he's made weak excuses and given slaps on the wrist and punishments. If popping several times mean nothing, why even have drug testing to begin with if the man can pop like 4 times at least times (when like 95% of fighters at least don't even pop once) and your response 'meh whatever, still the GOAT'? 'Jones is not the GOAT because he popped' is a perfectly valid argument. And besides, its not like GSP or DJ are way behind Jones in the GOAT conversation anyway.
@madgavin7568 Жыл бұрын
@@Meditatedaily94 Jon isn't the GOAT, he popped multiple times. That means something. If it doesn't to you, why even have drug testing if multiple steroid busts don't tarnish his legacy in your view? Other fighters being on steroids (or assumed to be on steroids lets be honest here) doesn't exonerate Jones' drug cheating.
@mrtim2721 Жыл бұрын
@@bluesphere4860 that is a pretty well structured argument, but what about Adesanya's gyno though? Isn't it a pretty clear indicator of cheating?
