I can see an autobot medic becoming a heavy weapons guy. The tact and patience that goes into severing and sewing cybertronian sinew translates well into crafting only the best kinds of weaponry and ammunition, his intimate knowledge of anatomy would mean he would know what kind of ammunition to use to achieve the best effect, and his desire to protect and care for other people gives him justification to use these weapons in the first place, as well as the reason why he's so heavily armored: he's being a walking shield for his friends. It works perfectly!

I think it's about the cartoon. In the Cybertron Defense Team episode, Red Alert's Cyber Key is to open up the 'missile' and shoot a gigantic ray of energy. (The space is for charging up for the blast.) And I think that they wanted to recreate that look, but they wanted the cyber key to actually unlock something playable, so they hid the trigger for the missile inside the big missile which opens up with the cyber key.

When the missile is armed and launched, it fires a warning missile, letting the enemy know that they are dead, well the enemy, and any one in a 50 mile radius. Red Alert had too much time on his hand one day.

Thanks. This random review helped me after randomly finding this guy at a garage sale today. Got him for a dollar but didn't know who he was. Finally found the copyright and could figure it out from the date. I'm not as familiar with the Cybertron toys but he's definitely a cool one. Sadly no shield, thus no hammer, and no working lights or sound anymore, but he's still nice for a buck.

I got this boi second-hand cheap and in an unidentified lot. I'm not super familiar with this era of TFs so I assumed he was an Ultra Magnus or a Fort Max until I looled him up, but uhhh, Red Alert huh? A former medic turned heavy-artilery Red Alert. That is, um, not what I expected.

Based on the anime, the Cyber Key Power is supposed to be a rail gun. I guess that a smaller missile is the best they could do to emulate that

The toy gimmick doesn't translate well. In the show, his Cyber Key power was an overcharged electroblast fired from the core of the split missile.

The plastic on the cybertron defense series was a little brittle in my opinion. To date, the cybertron defense hotshot I have is one of the only transformer that has broken while being transformed.
