The thing is, they actually do show off the work modes in the show, albeit with little-to-no fanfare. It's to let them get into smaller areas without banging their heads on the ceiling. So it's not just something they bullshit for the back of the box.

Got mine at a flea market last year for just 15$! It didnt have his minicon, but it was complete with key. Once at home, I noticed something.... There's a kinda cockpit... that open... and it contain something... HIS MINICON! Oh glorious day!

Of the Cybertron Decepticons that are not Megatron/Galvatron and Starscream, I think this one is the best. He has a pretty cool alt. mode and robot mode, and loads of fun gimmicks as you said.

the minicon pairing makes the catcher look like a face. Maybe that was supposed to be part of the "work mode". I feels like the arms need to transform more though, I know their filled with functions but they are Identical in every mode.

When the mini-con goes into the front blade, it's supposed to resemble a face with snarling teeth, hence the different colors and the convenient molding of the dump truck part that shows at the bottom.

Honestly I think the "work mode" works, the lower and widened stance of the arms and legs do give him that workforce mech aesthetic (I swear I've seen that silhouette on construction mecha before). Still to use that as an excuse to call him a tripple changer falls really flat.

I feel like it's been too long since we've seen anything from the Age of Extinction line. And seeing how much you liked Scorn (the Spinosaurus), I say give us a look at one of the dinobots like Grimlock or...Snarl, I think it is...whatever that Stegosaurus's name was. Also, having seen TJ review this earlier this year...does Menasor's robot mode remind anybody of Polar Light?

So... One, Menasor's right arm drill makes me think of a plastic cased cork opener, because of its familiar design. Two, most non-Earth natives (except the bumbling idiots Crumplezone and Ransack) had to be promoted as Decepticons as a "to sell toys" thing. Undermine, Brimstone, Scourge, Dirt Boss, and even Menasor here all have a really short stint as Decepticons before switching sides, forgetting about their short alignment with the villains. In fact, I fondly remember Scourge being more heroic than usual all thanks to how the human kids changed his personality massively while sticking to Megatron to observe the king of the universe candidate to see if the end result of his actions justify the means (in the long run, nope). And three, among the TV characters, Super Starscream, Menasor, Quickmix and Dark Crumplezone are import-only in Japan (eHOBBY, TRU, anything not retail).

This figure is an example of the good side of gimmicks. There are two types of gimmicks: the ones that improve a toy and the ones that ruin it. Good gimmicks ex. Metroplex (cybertron), Activators Bumblebee (animated), and Unicorn (energon) Bad gimmicks ex. Hotshot (armada), Sideswipe (armada), and the whole Powercore Combiner series.

That is one of the stranger alt modes I've seen. then again, it is meant to be something from a planet in another dimension so... yeah, I guess it makes sense that it isn't recognisable by Earth standards :P I do still wonder what your thoughts on Titanium Ultra Magnus are.

Heh, TJ gave me an idea for the most ludicrous (and expensive) troop builder ever: redeco these as Beast Machines Vehicon "Mole Drones", each one coming with a custom Minicon shaped like one of the Maximals. ... Think of how awesome they'd look in front of Megabolt Megatron atop Brave Maximus. ;)

I will admit even though it would be a SG Repaint (sadly) this Mold would look pretty awesome as Omega Supreme (hell they showed it in one of the SG Comics) & it looked good.
