TL;DW - Too Long;Didn't Watch. A shorter cut from my long live stream.
In Assetto Corsa Competizione version 1.8 we are pushing our physics engine to refresh 400 times per second, improving accuracy, precision and feedback!

The precise numbers from the topic in the video: 250 km/hr = 69.444... m/s Distance per update pre 1.8: 69.444 m/s / 333 Hz = 0.2085 m = 20.85 cm Distance per update 1.8: 69.444 m/s / 400 Hz = 0.1736 m = 17.36 cm Delta distance = 0.0349 m = 3.49 cm

I just want Kunos to buy the WEC license. With the GT WEC moving to GT3 they have a tonne of experience and the upcoming P1/hyper cars category looks spectacular. It would be a fantastic series to run in a sim with really great multiclass.

Input lag is also important and in my opinion it is the biggest problem with ACC even with g-sync. Anyone having the same feeling?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives Жыл бұрын
I honestly can't see any input lag. Are you sure you're not using vsync enabled or simply a TV-like monitor with too much of latency?

Probably a dumb question but will this be affected by the fps you have or have you guys found a way to separate fps from the physics refresh rate ? I would assume so because nobodys cranking out 400fps on ACC.

would it be possible to add a toggle switch in the menu to turn off the raod FX 100%? I mean for example: I use a G29 wheel + 0% road FX > the problem is that the motors FFB keep clipping when driving over the rumble strips Not sure how stupid my question is, i love this game, but the noise on the G29 is sometimes problematic. In either case, I love the update. You guys ROCK! my settings Gain: 84% damp: 55% Dyn: 14% RFX: 0%
@Maartwo
@Maartwo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. If you are on PC, I recommend you use a LUT file and turn everything off except gain, which should be set at 100%. There are many guides out there ok how to do this
@AdzzVR
@AdzzVR 2 жыл бұрын
Yea I had to use a custom LUT for the tbf and road effect to stop the weird rattling on kerbs.

I think I've heard a developer from rfactor 2 mention their physics engine runs at 2400 hz. Nothing against Kunos, I love their sim but I wonder how ACC would feel at that rate. I notice how input lag feels basically non-existent on rf2... Imagine if ACC ran at this higher rate, you could drive it right on the limit and immediately feel oversteer and catch.
@giuseppec.956
@giuseppec.956 2 жыл бұрын
Input lag does not depend from the frequency of the simulation, if you want to improve your input lag, turn off vsync, put all video settings to low (high FPS makes input lag lower) and get a 144 Hz (or higher) monitor, I have a very low input lag, but again, it does not depend from the 400 Hz that Aris is talking about, those only affect the accuracy of the simulation
@charliebeckey6269
@charliebeckey6269 2 жыл бұрын
@@giuseppec.956 For sure you want to minimize the visual lag from your monitor and increase the frame rate as much as possible. I'm talking about car behavior/feedback and how quickly the sim can take your steering inputs, make the physics calculations/adjust car behavior and output the new FFB signal. The faster this happens obviously it will more match reality.
@giuseppec.956
@giuseppec.956 2 жыл бұрын
@@charliebeckey6269 the frequency of the simulation will not change how quickly you are able to correct a slide, 400 Hz is 1 update every 2.5 milliseconds, fastest response time for a human is 150 milliseconds, and we're talking about FPS proplayers, even if the frequency of the simulation could increase to 2400 Hz, it would make no difference in how quickly you can recover a slide, the difference between 400hz and 2400 hz is 2 milliseconds, you think a human could tell the difference? The frequency of the simulation only improves its accuracy, you will get bumps that you didn't notice before maybe

@jonas.7567
@jonas.7567 2 жыл бұрын
I'd be interested to hear about Input lag too (have the same wheel). Afaik, even if the t300 can't work with 400hz, it should be an improvement because the physics refresh faster. The problem would be that we just wouldn't feel it. Or did I understood that wrong? Is it the same with music cd's? Then 16 bit (which has the wheel) is ~44khz. That would be enough I think XD
@johng4357
@johng4357 2 жыл бұрын
T300 works fine with 400hz, feels great. Whether the wheel itself can pick up inputs at 400hz i don't know but FFB is improved in the last updates, whether by physics frequency, or physics plus wheel

Just looked it up... AMS1 is 720Hz. :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6CxaXSalrSngZo Don't know what AMS2, rF, or iR have... Do you run the same physics engine for all cars on track, including AI? What if you would increase the sampling rate of the physics for only the player car, could you increase the sampling rate further, to for example 800Hz or 1kHz, without excessive CPU load?
