Historically, pro-European parties tend to do better than Euroskeptics during these elections because their voters have a better turnout than others during European elections. Polling has also been historically bad at predicting European Elections results. While a shift to the right seems likely, I doubt it will be anything major.

On ECR you forgot to mention that, other than Italy, Romania will also be a new source of MEPs for the group. Close to a third of those new 23 seats would come from Romania's new right-wing populist AUR party, who are currently polling at around 20% (second largest party in the country) and as such would win 7-8 seats in the European parliament.

The thing is, they're trying to balance an aging population with migrants. That is the worst possible thing. The EU needs to: - develop a lebensborn-like program - defederalise individual nations and turn them into states - force a standard tax onto everyone in every country in the EU (really high, like Finnish or Icelandic rates) - fund natively Europeans who have a relatively high European genetic heritage to have children, even better if they have more children. Give them extra benefits or tax cuts. - Completely block "asylum seekers" - Eject already-in immigrants on first crime. - Use their militaries actively as a labour force rather than a war machine force The EU needs to take more inspiration from the Nordic countries, the Soviets, and the Nazis.

You don't "win" or "lose" a European Parliament election. It's not a binary first-past-the-post system with a winner who gets everything and a loser who gets nothing. As you point out, the most powerful faction is currently a coalition between the centre-left and the centre-right.

Reconquete did 7% without affecting at all the performance of MLP meaning that far-right ideas gained 7+1,8=8,8% more voters than 2017. That is tremendous given the poltical climate and major medias in the country(e.g. Le Monde, France TV/Info etc.) being anti far-right

I see no problem between right or left, problem is when Eurosceptic parties get a seat in EU, the organisation they seek to leave, like German's AFD. Meloni's party on the other hand is pro-EU so them appeasing their voters doesn't mean destruction of the Union itself I think Euroscepticism should be more highlighted than left/right, especially given the left also has anti-EU agenda (my country, Portugal, has far left that is anti-EU and anti-euro) I think this is relevant because will probably see more anti-migration laws with a right migration, while an Eurosceptic rise would mean sabotaging EU and giving up on Ukraine

Some of the comments illustrates the biggest problem with modern politics: a notion of "us" against "them". Right-wingers claims that the left wants Europeans to feel ashamed of their country/culture while left-wingers claims that the right want to end all international cooperation out of nostalgia for imperialism. Projection was way off at the 4 minute mark. Not only did EPP not lose 12 seats, they gained 8 seats and the left block lost a seat. The greens prediction was the only one that was very close as they lost 19 seats.

I would add that the two right-wing political groups in the European Parliament (ECR and "radical" ID) have only the cultural conservatism in common. Indeed, in the economic issues, the former is much more liberal than the latter. Moreover, in foreign policy, ID, unlike ECR, is anti-American, hardly Eurosceptic and pro-Russian.

Indeed, the Finns Party is one of the very few political movements in Europe that can be considered «left-wing authoritarian». Jean-Marie Le Pen was vaguely pro-free market in economic matters; daughter Marine (who led the RN from 2011 to 2021) was decidedly interventionist. It is no coincidence that the party is so strongly rooted in the deindustrialized regions of France. The RN, at least since 2012, is the most working-class political movement in the country.

The workers suffer from wage competition from immigrants. Furthermore, many of them are a danger to public safety. The riots you're talking about is a part of the strike, if Macron doesn't want to listen to the worker's demand with the peaceful strike, then might as well destroy some private properties to get his attention since he's so protective when it comes to his corporate buddies. One thing I've learned about politics is how it always swings from left to right of politics every decade or so, I don't find it that big of a deal, people give one side a chance, they don't like the results and give the others a chance, and the merry go around continues with politics rarely listening to the people until it's election time or there's a big uproar against them. As for the far left and right, another thing I've been noticing is how many of them have become more moderate to appeal to more voters, we are seeing that in Italy, if they become more moderate, they are far less of an issue, and it stands to reason, far left and far right parties only appeal to a subgroup of people, moderate parties appeal to a wider audience, so the far left and right parties, if they ever want any credible chance of gaining power have to become more moderate, and even in the off chance they gain power by not moderating, their views will either get them kicked out or they mess things up so much that when they do get the boot, it's unlikely they will gain power again. Just look at the current government in Italy, how they've had to tone things down on the EU, the Euro and many other things, and the reason being is that most of us want stability and growth, they don't want things being turned upside down, basically, it's far easier to say wild things when not in power on the sidelines, it's a lot harder to keep saying them if close to winning power or in power, the reason being is because their neck is on the line, if they mess up because of the policies they promised the people, the people will turn on them even thought the people actually wanted those policies. Politics is a tricky game, which is why lying seems to win over the people a lot more than the truth does, but reality always wins out in the end, the UK is finding that out the hard way with Brexit, the US could have paid a high price if Trump was more popular and managed to push the changes he wanted, basically a power grab, but in the end, people are playing with fire when voting for these kinds of things, history has shown how bad it can go for us and why moderate parties is the way to go.

The American puppets and original PNL (the part that split from PNL after the coalition) have also made a "democratic" coalition with the Popular movement to try and fight both PSD and AUR. On a bright side, a competitive European elections with a real threat of far right could finally get more people to pay attention to them in the first place and consider them to be important. European elections are infamous for having voter turnout below or just about 50%. That also has implications for the far right who are actually focusing on EP elections this time around, it still seems to me to be a mistake to focus your EP elections on people who fundamentally hate the European project and don't turn out to vote for European elections anyway. I will be voting for the more right leaning parties, even though I'm personally more leaning to the left. Before you start attacking me, please hear me out, what my reasoning is: In the last few years, EU has been heading too much to the left with it's decisions. I think there should be a re-evaluation of policy and shift more to the right to get back to the centre (which I try to be - a centrist). No good can come from the extremes, and we, the people, have duty to steer the political waters in the correct way. If we tilt to the left too much, we should vote right to get back. If we tilt too much to the right, we should vote left to get back. Personally, I like the idea of Confederate European States. Common foreign policy and defense, but each country has their own domestic policy left to their own decisions. And also right of succession, should the arragement not be suitable for the country any longer.

Bro, politics don't work like one positive side and one negative side that can perfectly and without consequences cancel each other out to be neutral. If we divide the political spectrum in 2 sides on 1 axis, aka left and right, (which is already stupid because it simplifies politics to much and is probably the reason why you got those stupid believes on how politics work), we get polar opposites that want policies that are incompatible. For example migration. The left wants migration while the right doesn't want migration. There is no middle ground and the only thing that would cancel out is the political advancement because they won't be able to make a decision. There is no center in politics and you don't get a center in politics by somehow balancing the two sides. Also as a voter your goal is to vote in your interests and not to try to "balance" things out, because in this situation you are voting against your own interests, you give people the power that didn't convince you and you are hurting yourself and others by making politics exist that don't get stuff done or do things against your interests, because I can assure you that this mentality won't even make the poling balance out. I understand that it is hard, but we need to get out of our social bubbles and engage with others, even if we disagree with them. Furthermore, the parliament has the power to dissolve the commission at any time. The voter has little influence in the EU. Not an oversight but was planned that way. Enough reason, on it's own, for Brexit. The EU Parliament is the weakest of the 3 EU institutions being the only one with NO power to enact legalisation, only to scrutinise, legislation passed in the EU Council and EU Commission. As a result, treating the public, like a rubberstamp only has ramifications in the notoriously poor turnout for EU Parliamemtary elections. This weak direct link between the public and their representatives will probaby mean the demise of the EU eventually. The centre left seem to be toast. Go Woke Go Broke. For me it does not matter if it is male or female which I vote. The most competent person should get the job to serve the people. Sauli has been good despite me having negative expectations. Tarja was too friendly with Putin, getting his cats etc. I haven't made my mind who I will vote yet, but I know for certain that I will not vote for Harkimo, Rhen, Haavisto or Urpilainen. I would never buy a used car from any of them, let alone trust them into position of president. If any of them gets elected, they have to prove me wrong like Sauli. I also did not vote for Sauli on either of his elections.

I wish there were more parties that left wing in ecnomic & housing issues, but anything from conservative to moderate on culture war & immigration issues. Esp that rejected Forced Entry & Settlement (unfettered immigration) in any practical terms, and saw EU as for all CURRENT europeans, rather than an entitlement to entry.

Thar includes practcial policy measured by outcomes, over doing things that make one feel good about oneself. California is a perfect example of the latter in action. Same with the polciy of unfetterred and unlimited illegal immigration without consent: that is not a realistic or ethcially principled solution, it is just based on feelings.

Hard to tell, currently expectations are that VVD and PvdA/GL might battle for biggest party, but BBB and PVV are not ruled out at the moment. And most people are waiting to see if Pieter Omtzigt starts it's own party as he is polled to become the biggest party if he joins nationwide.
