I try to live a zero waste life and crafting though good for my anxiety and depression can make me feel guilty. Found the re-spekt and re-spun online and on sale and bought it without even looking at reviews. Was so glad to see your thoughts here!! I had plans to make some garments with them and it looks like I made the right choice! But I may need to reconsider my plans for respekt because that tank that you suggested is EVERYTHING! I’m not much of a crocheter I’m terrible with my tension which is why I learned to knit (much easier!) but I may have to snatch up your pattern and commit. Omg so cute!

I give you 20 stars for being the very best yarn reviews on KZbin. You show the yarn, talk about the fiber content, do a sample and talk about which hook or hooks to try and then give your honest option of the yarn. I have come to really dislike the people that buy $$$ of yarn, pay for express shipping, then only talk about the colors and how scarfable it is. Most of us don't have $$$ to spend at one time much less pay for express shipping (would rather use the money on more yarn). I want to know how it feels when working with the yarn, what the stitch definition looks like, how it behaves on the hook and how the sample hangs or drapes. I also love that you do different stiches, not just double and bobbles! Thanks for the great professional videos.

I’ve been crocheting since the 1970’s and I can tell you, acrylic yarn has come a long way! I no longer poo-poo it, as a yarn I won’t work with, however, I do still prefer a natural fiber or blend for garments, especially bamboo. It has such delicious drape for those light lacy things to wear in the summer! Great video!

I love Re-spun because it looks just like wool without the itch factor and the special care instructions. I love the halo that comes with the yarn which fills in any gaps in between stitches. I used 7mm knitting needles to get the preferred fabric to make a shoulder shrug. I will need to collect all the colors before they discontinue it.

Thank you for your great review and mentioning The Lion Brand sale- ordered five kits at 35% off. The Comfy cotton blend is used in the sleeveless knit flutter top kit and I also ordered enough of the Cooboo to make a second version because the steel blue color is so pretty. Last weekend Hobby Lobby had LB home cording at 30% off and got the dark brown color which is gorgeous. The picture on the Lion Brand website for the Sardinian coasters and the brown cording is inspiring. Also picked up the cream color to make matching placements. Searching for the perfect yarn to make a blanket out of, I binge watched ALL of your yarn reviews in the last week. I really appreciate the time you take to highlight the pros and cons of each yarn and really, really love it when you tell us how it washes and the types of projects that suit the yarn. I love Re-Spun and the Re-Spun Thick and Quick is even better! To me it definitely feels like a wool but does have some of that almost platsic-y feel you get from man-made fibers. The one things I would caution is DO NOT use this with a wood hook. I made a sweater with it and the wood hook really slowed me down but I unfortunately did not have that hook size in any other material. Now I'm just waiting for them to release more colors. I could really see the yarn becoming a staple for crocheters and other yarny makers to reach for.

I purchased Re-spun in almost all the pretty colors, but when using it, I developed little cuts on my fingers. Though the yarn feels soft on the skein, I didn't like the roughness as it passed over my fingers. I am going to guess this all has to do with using recycled materials along with chemicals to process the yarn. After discontinued use of this yarn, the cuts did heal.

I almost exclusively use Re-Spun because it was on a huge sale at Joann a few months ago! I like using a size 6 aluminum hook and typically looser stitches for that really nice soft feel. but it's also nice with a size 5 hook or even 4.5 for tighter, more structured pieces!

Okay, I actually have the Re-Spun Thick and Quick but it seems to be the same content? I might have to dig a little to find my smaller one. BUT. I did both knit and crochet swatches, and I'm in love. It's so nice to work with, and moves smoothly over the hook, and has just a little bite. The stitches had great definition, and it frogged nicely as well.
@INKSTARS11382 жыл бұрын
I've now swatched the thinner Re-Spun and I like it a little less. The plan to move up to a bigger hook (I used a 7mm, but an 8mm might be good too) was definitely a good one, and it has the same stitch definition for the most part as the bigger, and the same nice feel BUT. It is terrible to frog. It just tangled instead and I had to cut my swatch out entirely. So I guess that's a thing. I'm hoping it knits up similarly but actually lets me frog it.
