Actuary, Sharanjit Paddam, works with risk everyday. Its his job to research how the risks associated with climate change will impact the business of insurance and banks. And, while it's easy to focus on the obvious risks posed by climate change to key sectors of the economy, from jobs to housing, Sharanjit asks us to remember that with every financial risk comes opportunity. What opportunities exist for banks and insurers in addressing climate change?
As an actuary, Sharanjit uses his risk management, financial modelling and communication skills to help banks, insurers and investors to understand what climate change means for them and how to prepare for the uncertain future. He loves collaborating with scientists, engineers, accountants, risk managers and other actuaries to solve problems, including setting up the Climate Measurement Standards Initiative to help financial services companies develop approaches to climate risk assessment. In 2020, he was awarded Risk Manager of the Year by the Climate Alliance, and received the Actuaries Institute’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his service on the Institute’s Climate Change Working Group. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I wouldn't agree less but a times we are influenced based on result of what will see and experience, failure at first try doesn't mean it is over but unfortunately people seems to back off when they have experiences some obstacle or failure along the way

I’ve never known anyone who could change the weather…except God. And Biblical records show that many climate changes occur as the result of widespread wickedness. So the best solution to climate change is repentance.

Humans haven’t created climate change it’s always existed. Our industrialization and heavy usage of fossil fuels has only accelerated the rate of change and that’s the problem
@pjroberts9215

Also biblical records don’t hold data that is mathematically relative or accurate to how our world operates today.

@@pjroberts9215 I agree that humans haven’t created climate change. We used to call it weather. Always unpredictable beyond a week or two. It snowed where I live in October this year. A few winters back it didn’t snow until January. Hard to blame that on climate change as the result of industrialization or fuels.

@@pjroberts9215 But data is not the point of the Bible. Obedience to God‘s laws is the point.
