Hi Sunny, I only just found you on KZbin, I'm 52 & have struggled to this day with the after affects of emotional neglect as a kid, I've tried so many approaches, therepy, medication & recently meditation but I simply don't feel able, everything feels insincere, specially the positive self affirmations which do not feel authentic in my mind, any advice we be very much appreciated btw I been diagnosed at various stages of my life with, anxiety, depression, BPD & very recently ADHD😞 Many Thanks

Yes, without memory there is no Marianne. Inquire, what is the I that you are referring to in this statement that is not the history? Are you still referring to the body? Come to the understanding that about yourself you can say nothing other than I am. All other statements refer to experience only, not you

Hi Sunny, my mind is very stubborn in seeing everything I do as a way to end my suffering (a coping mechanism). I suffer from stress. Not because something is wrong in my life, everything is ok actually on almost every level but my mind is stressing about having stress. Fearing the fear. So everything I do (meditation, learning new skillsets etc) my mind is seeing this as a way to end my suffering. In practise this means my mind is constantly applying techniques and looking for things to make the stress go away. While in reality this is actually the cause of the stress. So I can meditate for hours but my mind is always tricking me that this should be the solution to my problem instead of just doing a meditation without any expectations. In other words, my mind expects the stress to go away when doing excersise X. Instead, it never goes away when I have this expectation. But somehow I keep getting stuck in this mindset. Once I really let go of any expectations, meaning doing an excersise without expectations my stress is completely gone. This always happens when I'm not consisously thinking about the stress. But right after becoming aware that I didn't feel any stress (within seconds or minutes at most) my mind kicks back in telling me: "allright, I felt totally relaxed how did I do that!?". After realising this I'm back in the mind trying to find a fix. Consiously thinking about how to make the stress go away. Many times I'm aware I'm in this state but unable to stop it. The more stress I feel the more my mind is trying to make it go away instead of just feeling it. So I really want to let go but in the mean time my mind tells me this is just another way to not feeling the stress and still want it to go away if that makes sense. It's another coping mechanism. I really feel like this is the part where I'm stuck and want to change. Would this meditation be helpfull in doing so?

I’ve been practicing for some time now and then unfortunately what seemed like a ‘negative realisation (probably another thought) occurred to me. How do you overcome recurring thoughts specifically a negative thought which is not a ‘random’ thought but one you’ve come to witness many times and know very well and has strong emotion with it which seems to originate out of or within awareness itself because of its long manifested repetitive nature, this type of thought seems / feels to be present before you even witness it - it has already arisen prior to the witnessing 😶
@GiShinso2 жыл бұрын
I recently heard that quote you spoke in the beginning. An experimental way of understanding it would be like asking the question, was all that lead up to my “present” by choice or was it always meant to happen? It feels like a paradox, and it feels freeing and blissful to experience this paradox as what is.

Don't try to remove the expectation. It is not your or yours. Let the expectation be there but no longer need it to be fulfilled. No longer want anything from expectation. The Self does not expect, desire, or fear. The Self is not bothered by them also. The Self merely IS and is aware.

It just wasn't for me anymore. Once I realized that deeply, I no longer found it desirable. However sometimes now when I see my wife or friends eat meat, sometimes there may be an inkling of desire for it, but I give it no value, I do not entertain it. And it isn't too difficult simply letting it go. I understand that I am on a different path in life. I've created a resolve that this lifetime is not merely for sensual pleasure and that that is not a priority for me. With that it's easy to give up what you've discovered is not helpful for you personally. If you still feel a strong pull to meat and certain other things, then I wouldn't recommend trying to hold yourself back from it. Do this instead to naturally no longer feel called to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5u3YYOXaqqKntE
