My mother died in 2001 from breast cancer. She was 36. I was 6. She got to see her man Toby play live not too long before she died. She adored him. Seeing him was likely one of her last really happy memories. My whole life, everytime he'd release a song, I'd think my mom would love to hear this. He kept me connected to her. He was more than a musician. Seeing him wither away like she did, so unfair. Right now, this song is how we feel about losing him. Thank you so much for honoring him, and really feeling his music. He was a tremendous soul, and a wonderful man. I'm so grateful his family shared him with us all these years. "I'm gonna miss you, my friend."

My mom died in 2019 and I was in a very dark place after she died because my dad died 💔 in 1998 and my grandmother died in 1999. The loss of my mom was really hard, and I had a lot of other struggles going on at the same time. I started praying more,feeding the homeless and going to church, and I started hanging out with my family and getting outside more. All kinds of insects, birds 🐦, animals, and flowers started showing up. I would see 👀 the most beautiful sunsets on my way to work and the most beautiful sunrises on my way home.🏡 *** Toby was all about spending time with his wife and family, and he learned how to multi-task and share his gifts with others. He wasn't afraid to stand up for what he believed in, and he wasn't afraid to talk about his faith 🙏 or his love of God. His lyrics tell a story.. His lyrics for a lot of his songs 🎵 come straight from his heart. He was a r rough and rowdy cowboy on the outside, but his heart ❤️,but he was a free spirited, fun-loving, kindhearted gentlemen and a true patriot who loved his country and our soldiers. He did 11 tours to visit our troops and never charged anything, and he listened to them, thanked them for their service, signed autographs, and took pictures with them. He was a very selfless man, and what makes this hurt so much is seeing what cancer did to this beautiful human and knowing that he fought hard til the end. *** We need more humans like Toby Keith. He said the 4th of July was his favorite holiday. Everyone should play his patriot songs on the 4th of July and raise a toast to Toby with red solo cups. *** Toby Keith will live on forever through his music, his videos, his movies, his acts of kindness, and the memories that were made. He gave us some beautiful songs. American Soldier always gets me emotional. I love the stories behind his songs.

Try “Holes In The Floor of Heaven”. When Grannie died, I remember playing it over & over, bawling my eyes out, missing her so very much! As a nurse and former paramedic/firefighter, I’ve been there for a lot of deaths, both if family, friends, & complete strangers. I could tell you stories that would make the hair in your arms stand up & give you chills! I believe they’re all still here with us in one way or another, even though we feel so alone & don’t really feel or see them here anymore. I lost Dad lover 10 years ago now, but he’s sent me signs to let me know he’s still watching out for me! RIP, Toby Keith! ❤😢

Man this song always breaks me, one of my best friends OD in 2018. Almost 20 years of friendship from Kindergarten till his death. I listen to this song every once in a while and I break down. I said no need to apologize, what was the occasion? He said it was he and his wife's 60th anniversary. We congratulated him. Walking out, I walked to his table.
