Toby was an American PATRIOT who did so much for our military folks. He spent 183 days in his life entertaining the troops overseas. He has a phenomenal catalog, but his best IMO was a song called "American soldier". Chilling and solemn.

This song is mostly tongue in cheek comedy. I know people who have gone to bars all their lives and have never been in a fight. Then again when I was young I fought my way out of quite a few bars because after a few drinks I thought I was 8' tall. 😀

Bars in America are as diverse as it's people and tend to reflect the culture of the area. The bars Toby is referring to is considered a blue collar bar in rural America. We have many and everyone has their favorite watering hole where everyone knows their name. And yes they have all kinds. But for the most part everyone gets along as long as no one acts a fool in which case they will be dealt with and escorted out. However, were you to find yourself in America looking to visit one of our fine dive's perhaps you should take one of us along just to avoid any cultural misunderstandings as a word or phrase can have different meanings in different places.

Great reaction, and Toby Keith is at the top of the list when it comes to country music. His videos are always a bit comical. Dont worry if you come to America and go into a bar, there usually is not any trouble, and when there is trouble, its usually because of a woman. And the chicken wire, .... well let me tell you, Ive been to almost every bar in Texas, and I have never seen any chicken wire - yet ! HOPEFULLY, you guys will react to these songs by Toby - "I Aint As Good As I Once Was" and "Who's Your Daddy". Both are hilarious!

Guys, I'm sure you would have no problem walking into any bar in America...you guys are cool so you won't have any trouble. Most bars even here in Canada are good places to drink and socialize...your instincts will tell you when you see a dive bar and not go into it.

That type of bar represents a very small percentage of bars in America in my opinion. They are known as "roadhouse" bars or "honkytonks". Many bars are also restaurants as well and very few have chicken wire. But it does look cool in movies, to have the atmosphere of a roadhouse bar.

You lived in England and there is way more fighting there then there is in the USA. I'm american and there really isn't much trouble in bars unless you want trouble, where as when I lived in England for awhile I wasn't given a choice of being in lots of fights.

This song is not so much about bar culture as it is neighborhood hang out culture. Yes, there are some bars, especially in the south, where you get this kind of wild behavior. However, I have travelled a lot and I have noticed that especially in small towns and villages, in pretty much every country, there is that one spot, like a restaurant, a cafe, or pub, where all kinds tend to gather and you get a real mix of all kinds of people and everyone pretty much gets along. At least until someone insults someone else's mother's cooking or some such nonsense.

If you see wire in front of the stage you are jn the wrong bar. Seriouusly, bars vary in clientele. If you go were the customers are "roughnecks" from the local oilfield things can get rowdy. On the otherhand the ones in the financial disrtict are prinarily a danger to your finances.

Toby has a,ton of great songs….thats funny. I have been to some honky Tonks. Absolutely not. You would not have to worry the chicken wire is funny. Everything is over….played for dramatic purposes. Not at all. You’d be much safer in a country bar and a no crime town any day.
