I want to thank you, Dino! I had received a DR last year, that sat for about 10 years. I watched some of your videos 5+ times over the last year while I slowly brought the bike back to life. I finally have the bike back on the road and it has been great to ride around. Thanks!

TIPS: I like to use a leaf blower to go over my bike and blow the access water off after washing. And I dry my air filter using a hair dryer with the heat set on low. Its important not to use high heat, as that will shrink it. Low heat will dry it quicker and not shrink it.

Thank you for tips, I have used the blower tip myself and you are right it does work well. never used the hair drier but I think that would work very well also. Thank you again. Dino

Thanks Dino for sharing the tips. Yes I like videos regarding tips and products. The tips can save us time and often give tinkerers new ways to do things or new products to consider.

Got another tip for you Dino. Change the side panel and seat screws to thumb screws for tool-less and quick removal. I used low strength Loc-tite to keep them secure while still being able to loosen them by hand. Had to remove some material off of the seat thumb screw but the tight fit also helps keep them secure.

Dino, regarding the adjusting nuts on the rear shock absorber, I cut a 1" square oak rod about a foot long. Sanded the edges, and with a 1 pound ball peen hammer, I tapped the tabs of the nuts. It worked perfect and did not distort the tabs.

A dab of silicon is also great to keep the little gas tank pucks in place. Those things seem to evaporate into thin air when you take the tank off😂

I never do a complete wash of my DR650, I just knock the crusty dirt off as needed. That I hardly ever get it muddy may say something about my riding style. If I get caught in the rain on the way home I will fog the whole bike with WD40. It just takes a couple minutes before the next ride to wipe excess WD40 away(the rest burns off). Of course the brakes get the Brake Cleaner treatment. Coming up on 20years DR650 ownership. What rust? I don't see any rust. The square air box nuts eventually became an issue. I deleted them. Drilled holes in the appropriate locations and now use zip ties to secure the lid. I know that's not for everyone.

As a general rule, never wash machinery. The most my DR gets is an oily rage over the tank and other easily accessible visible parts. Water and Machinery don't mix

I put a couple of in expensive piezo alarms owired into my indicators so I have an audio as well as a visual reminder that the indicators are on But your have to wire them in for 1 per indicator as one has to be as a reverse polarity as they all share a common ground
