I saw John Edward live once. We waited for a very long time for him to appear on stage. I sat and listened to audience members discussing life episode that they hoped he would "hit on". This intrigued me and we went to see him another time. The exact same thing happened. I believe he either has employees in the audience or listening devices getting stories from people. OR possibly using shills in the audience just like magicians. He may also be using a combo of those methods and cold reading.

You are so funny, loved the gopher reference.. woodchucks and bunnies. You never fail to make me laugh. I think that "psychic mediums" know a lot about behavioral psychology. I knew a friend's mom who did psychic readings, and when I called her out, she revealed some of her methods/skills. For instance, a friend got a reading from her. She looked at his hands, as though looking at his palm lines for "signs". She said, "You are a musician, you play the guitar". He was amazed and was at that point, taken in. This is when the subject's mind glazes over and is now receptive to suggestion. Like hypnosis. She knew he played the guitar because he had callouses on his fingers. No mystery, just keen observation mixed with showman know how. The mind glaze can happen to a large group of people if they believe that they have proof of magical powers.

Anybody else immediately think of the South Park episode where they make fun of him? It's called "The Biggest Douche In The Universe", and I highly recommend it. He repeatedly claims that he's special and Stan keeps calling him out and even goes into the concept of cold reading, but stupid people don't seem to understand and they continue to be fooled. It's also funny because Stan goes to John's house to tell him to stop lying to Kyle, and John has a sound effect when he enters the room that goes "Ladies and gentleman, Psychic John Edward" followed by a clap track implying that he's so full of himself that he has speakers installed throughout the house to remind others that he's entered the room and that they should clap for him.

Another psychic described in a phone call my bedroom, even to the smallest detail and she was correct. She also said that my (dead) brother liked the pink color of my pants. I don’t know about John Edward but some psychics are amazing good and correct and even help solving cases for the police.
@monakinnel92713 жыл бұрын
I don’t like the term “psychic” medium. Sounds too….”Woo, woo”!….Yup I get it, so does the term medium! It’s a given that all mediums must have developed psychic abilities; however, not all psychics are mediums. The point of focus for reading (or interpreting) the energy is entirely different. It is important, during a reading NOT to ask questions. Response from the client/sitter should only be “I understand this”, “I don’t understand this”, or “I don’t know”. Evidential mediumship is just that.. the medium relaying information through statements or personality characteristics that are beyond the expected. It may be a shared memory or a very unusual name, occupation, or character/personality trait, to name a few. And yes, surprise, surprise….we do get it wrong on occasion; however, it is most often due to information coming through and how “we” interpret that info. Our logical mind can certainly misinterpret the information based on our own understanding or experience. Giving the information exactly as we receive it is usually most accurate. But you know how we humans are….we just have to manipulate the information in a way that we think makes more sense or sounds better. Every time I do that, I crash and burn! After the reading and the sitter gives me feedback, I think…”Idiot…why didn’t you just shut your rambling mouth and leave the initial statement alone!!!” When the client looks at me like I have a third eye 🤣, that’s when I just need to shut up! We are certainly our own worst enemy sometimes!!! Mediumship is a service, and charging for that service certainly is not ethically inappropriate; however, I feel, when ego takes over and those fees are way beyond what most can actually afford to spend, that, to me, crosses the line into greed. People seek out mediums because they are in grief and just want to know their loved one is ok. However, it is important for people to understand that acceptance of going through the stages of grief is necessary psychologically speaking. It is important that after the passing of a loved one, to take time to try to process through this tragedy. I have seen way too many psychics/mediums playing into their clients grief for monetary gain. If I have a client that is asking for a reading and is initially visually very emotionally distraught,, rather than a reading, I would choose to be a compassionate ear for them and, if need be, refer them to a grief counselor. There are codes of ethics to adhere to in this field of work and to violate those rule/codes can have serious consequences to the client/sitter and the medium, as well. There a reputable and quality psychics and mediums out there. You just have to do your research and be cautious of who you receive services from. If you feel uncomfortable, untrusting, or intimidated in their presence…get up and walk away.

I think "hypnosis" in the sense of like guided meditation is a thing but no you can't hypnotize someone into doing things against their will and stage hypnosis has the advantage of the fact that you're not gunna go up on stage unless you want to be hypontized so you're going to be the kind of person that gets caught up in the moment and does what the performer tells you to do even though you're not actually in a "trance" or whatever. It's just bargain barrel manipulation I guess

It's a helpful tool for some forms of mental health therapy. It's not at all like you see in some stage show. It's more to relax you, clear your mind, remember more easily, and more open to suggestions. When done by a qualified mental health professional.

I think it depends on the person. My partner got randomly pulled up on stage, hes very shy he hates attention being on him and he's the kind of guy who would like to prove them wrong. Yet it worked and i cant explain why
@LDiamondz3 жыл бұрын
@@Kaylee-Renee I think so, too. All studies done on it, so far, can't prove why some people can be hypnotized and some can't. Scientists and Physicians are still researching it. All they know is that it has nothing to do with intelligence or personality.

I had a reading and was told my son was with a brother on the other side(he does have a half brother that passed who I knew of but never met) and that this brother could impersonate Elvis Presley really well. That’s pretty specific and random. So I reached out to the half brothers mother and asked her if he could impersonate Elvis and she said he was so good at impersonating Elvis, he could do all his songs and even dance like him, he loved Elvis. So I’m speculating some people have a gift, John Edward however most likely does not.

Sorry to say, dead people are dead. There is no other side. Your psychic might have pulled off a hot reading. On the other hand, a half brother is not a brother, so it's not specific, is it? I am guessing that the Elvis-immitating brother is not the only thing the psychic suggested.

@@oneworldawakening The evidence that the mind and consciousness are properties of the biological brain are overwhelming. Thoughts and consciousness go away within minutes of oxygen deprivation. Calling me narrow-minded is irrelevant. If there is any evidence of backup brains "on the other side", I would love to see it.
@JiveDadson3 жыл бұрын
@@oneworldawakening Well, technically "narrow-minded" is an adjective, not a name. I would love to see that evidence.

The NZ one was too 😄 it fascinated me how right the psychics were, but even with their connection with the deceased, they were unable to locate a missing body. It seemed they might have been connecting with energy of known facts or even suspicions, but couldn't get new info that was ultimately useful or helpful. But still fascinating!

Kudos to you for remaining open to the possibility that this nonphysical sensory may exist in some people. It would be great to hear your opinion as to whether or not you think Matt Fraser has a connection to those who have passed to the other side.

After my mom died, we received an announcement in the mail about one of John's upcoming appearances. It was addressed to my mom. My dad was immediately skeptical about this announcement having been addressed to her and speculated this was a ploy to play on our emotions. After a little more thought, I realized what he was saying. John's "people" likely read through obituaries and send out mass mailings to addressed to said dead people, hoping the loved ones will see it as a sign from the next life.
