Agreed! It sucks how so many people hate and severely misunderstand Dabi/Toya's character and bash and mock him for things that aren't even true. It's a shame, since he's such a good character. So many people claim that he was just born a psychopath and that nothing else influenced him to become the way he is now, that he cares about nobody and never has even as a kid, that he was the one that burned down the facility and killed the kids there and that he is just a whiny, annoying brat with daddy issues and has no excuse to act the way he does and that it was his fault alone that the Todoroki family fell apart, that he was the one that made his parents snap and who is to blame for him burning alive and turning into Dabi, no one else. It really baffles me because that's not true at all. Toya was a kid who just wanted to be loved and praised by his father and wanting to make him proud and be seen, just like any child. He knew that the only reason why he existed was because of his father's goal of becoming the number one hero and surpassing All Might and that as soon as he shows any weakness, he would be abandoned and ignored like Fuyumi and Natsuo and that's exactly what ended up happening. Suddenly, he was no longer the ideal successor and child of his father and was just another failed attempt of Endeavour's dream project before being replaced by his perfect and ideal youngest sibling. It makes complete sense that he spiraled until he broke down and even then the first thing he wanted to do after having burned alive and waking up from a 3 year coma in a creepy facility was to immediately go home so he could apologise to his family and Horikoshi confirmed that it wasn't him who burned down the facility nor did he harm any of the kids.

Toya is a lot like Darth Vader, he was once groomed by a psychopath to suit his specific goals and purposes but when he lost his usefulness he was cast aside by Endeavour. Toya like Anakin even took a different name and identity after he burned alive. How he survived his injuries is also because he held on to his anger and hatred, that was the driving force that gave him a reason to live. I believe that once he lets go of his hate and anger like Darth Vader he will finally die.

(spoiler) we see that he says "LOOK AT ME" To Endeavor, which is exactly what touya wants not dabi who wants to kill him, although.. i believe dabi and touya are the same, he wants Endeavor to look at him at ANY cost even if it means killing him and his family AND himself with the process, thats so depressing 😭 Not a fun fact: i think when touya woke up at the age of 16 from his coma he still had the mind of the 13 years old touya but considering how smart he was as a child, it's not easy to tell

Something that has always left me wondering why was unable to give him fresh skin on every part of his body? We can see that his entire body was charred when he nearly burned himself to death. Then he wakes up three years later and we see nearly all his skin looks new except for his neck, jaw, forearms, and the skin below his eyes. Was he unable to repair it simply because the fire in that instance originated from those areas before spreading to the rest of Toya's body?

If I recall correctly they implanted cells into him? Dabi's body probably was not "complete" yet when he woke up, and would've needed further care. His body was only meant to last for a month in that state, as stated. The doctor probably meant to continue the treatment to be a proper vessel in case something happened to Shigaraki.

In the manga, the grafted skin wasn't darker or anything. It was left unshaded just like the rest of Toya's skin. It's just MHA's anime being careless with details again.

Toya is a broken character and I can understand why, but I feel like his mind was so far gone that he misinterpreted almost everything endeavor was actually thinking, he thought endeavor looked at him like a failure, endeavor never once viewed Toya as a failure, it was the exact opposite endeavor thought he failed Toya, everything he thought was wrong on a lot of lvls, and his actions shouldn’t be excused of killing people, I admire that as a younger kid he didn’t understand a lot of things, but he should’ve walked through the door and revealed he was alive to endeavor and the family it would’ve changed a lot, and I don’t think endeavor would’ve been so hurt and angry, and maybe the family dynamic would’ve changed a lot

Its already proven that Endeavor see Toya as a failure, nothing can change that. The mere fact that he had to keep pushing Rei to birth kids until the perfect child was born (Shoto), is a huge proof that Endeavor only saw Toya's power and not his own kid. He neglect that child and doesn't even want to stop him properly without resorting to shouting and violence. Of course its also true that Touya murdering people is only on him alone and shouldn't be pinned on Endeavor. But in the end he doesn't care about any of it. He knows he is a hypocrite, heck he admit it himself that he has gone crazy. Because the only thing he cared about is further damaging Endeavor both physically and mentally.

Toya roasts these innocent children who wanted to be friends with him. He has no remorse for it. He wakes up from a 3 year coma, and wants revenge on his family for “moving on”. His family thought he was dead for 3 years and he knows this, so he shouldn't have been surprised that they didn't search for him and that they were able to move on with their lives. Considering Endeavor was at that time more abusive towards Shoto than he ever was towards Toya and that Rei was at a mental hospital due to the abuse she received from her husband, Fuyumi & Natsuo were still neglected by both parents, the family weren't doing much better than him. He also didn't even present himself to the rest of the family, so he didn't even give them a chance to tell him their side of the story and welcome him in their lives again

Dabi calls Hawks a monster for killing Twice, "a man just protecting his friends," and then immediately attacks Tokoyami who is just trying to protect his mentor while also calling the teen selfish for attempting to do so. Minutes earlier he called out the heroes for using students in a major assault but has no problem attacking a student himself. Toya tells Midoryia “you gotta pity me” for his tragic past when the latter confronts him during the Paranormal Liberation War yet he offers no sympathy to Shoto, who suffered worse abuse to Endeavor and even expressed disappointment that Natsuo wasn’t murdered, despite him being similarly neglected by their father.

@matejmotuz108 Tomura Shigaraki started off as a hypocrite: When he first meets Dabi and Toga, he criticizes the former for being impolite and the latter for being a psycho. He fits both of those descriptions himself anyway, being someone who wants to destroy society from the ground-up while deluding himself into thinking he's in the right. It is true that unlike other villains like Stain, Overhaul, and Re-Destro. While those try to justify or excuse their actions and take a moral high ground towards Shigaraki, Tomura himself doesn't hold any pretense. He's just a guy trying to get rid of people and things he doesn't like. And he sees nothing wrong with that.
