That 3" combination serving that toilet should have been a 3" long sweep. Before that combination, you could have put a 3" wye to serve your sink. That would have been your vent to. Then make sure that you are not close than 15" center to center of your fixtures.

That's a 4" long sweep to the toilet, hard to see. But I like the Y idea. I like the comments on how to make it better

that vent is required to be above the flood level of the fixture! It will leak in the future.

Thank you! My vent is letting moisture come into the cabinet underneath my kitchen sink. I think I will replace the vent and see if that helps. I have a feeling the vent might be all in this faulty???? Any suggestions?

I believe they are open to air by design. From what I know water is what it won't let out.

What if you install the vent on the 100mm pipe not the 50mm does it still do the same work ?

My kids restroom toilet is doing the same thing and has a nasty smell no matter how much a clean it. Is that a sign it needs to be vented?
@SRTPCC Жыл бұрын
If there's a smell I'm thinking there's already a air leak somewhere that needs to be tracked down. I'm not certain a vent install would fix your prob but there's way smarter ppl on here than me on this, sorry

Does not look like this would pass a plumbing inspection. Never thought it was a smart idea to put a Studor vent BELOW the fixture it was supposed to vent. It the under sink Studor was installed correctly then a 2" vent would be enough to vent the crapper. Total distance from the centerline of the flange doesn't look to be over 5 feet or so. Please follow up in the future when you have a sewer line blockage and the effluent backs up to your vent.
@brianczuhai89092 жыл бұрын
Potential clogs is the reason the air admittance valve vent needs to be above the top water level of a fixture. It's also the problem using them UNDER sinks. The one way valve on them may fail.
@sarahmangone7785 Жыл бұрын
Also, it's installed too low. After watching it fully, I see you moved it up.
@arlenmargolin48682 жыл бұрын
It looks like you went way down in pipe size you need to keep a large vent the same size otherwise I think it will have that problem

This is wrong . You need a 3"x 2" wye before and within the code distance of the 3" toilet 90 or a 3" x 2" side outlet 90 at your toilet . The the 2" of either of those configurations runs to your Lavy ( sink ) . The in-line vent should be 6" above the flood level rim of your lavy to prevent debris from clogging your vent in case of a drainaige back up . . Now , with what you did , the sink also has no vent . This is supposed to be a wet vent configuration . Where the lavy can vent the toilet . It's best to run the 1 -1/2" lavy vent thru the roof . That's just the beginning of what's wrong with this . Sorry .
@steveduranko49112 жыл бұрын
That toilet is wet vented thru the lavatory and a toilet can be unlimited distance from a vent because it’s a self siphoning fixture.
@SRTPCC2 жыл бұрын
Right on
@brianczuhai89092 жыл бұрын
That's because the toilet bowl keeps filling after the flush and reseals the trap. However, if vented properly you won't get that glug, glug, glug sound of air being sucked into the bowl right after the flush. Since there's a vacuum pulling the air through the trap in the bowl, it also pulls back the flush going down the pipe.
