It’s so interesting how they use pink as a mild contour to add dimension back to the face. Normally when we think of contour we think of brown, black, or grey tones. But this makes so much more sense for a white base with a youthful appearance! So interesting!

I'm super pale with a pink undertone and never contour cause it looks weird on me, when I was 19 this Japanese lady told me to use a light pink and I've never looked back, I'm 42 now and still get so many compliments.

Fun fact: the white face paint used to be made with lead which would eventually give the wearer lead poisoning. In the 1930's the white lead paint was outlawed in Japan and the white paint was made using rice powder

a geisha in training called maiko would actually use her real hair always. only full geishas are allowed to use wigs. since she is clearly dressed like a geisha and not meiko its totally fine

I' ve realized that mongoloids tend to have such delicate pointed fingertips and long curved nail beds. I could recognize this Disney princess shape from a mile away. Sometimes hand structure tells more about our ethnicity than any other feature. Keanu Reeves, for example, has this shape🖤

I used to love the scene from Memoirs of A Geisha when she was putting on the geisha makeup. It was so fascinating and soothing at the same time so I this is a really cool ASMR! Not my usual but definitely so enjoyable to watch!

Make sure you take a multivitamin! My nails became brittle a few years ago, and my doctor found out I had vitamin B and D deficiency, as well as hypothyroidism. Now my nails are back to normal! Our nails often indicate internal health, so start your nail care by making sure you are getting enough vitamins and minerals!

Ex ballerina here too😊. Bharata Natyam (India) is the exact equivalence of ballet. They even add a concrete face expression and mudra (fingers position) to each element as if all the rest was not enough😅... Mindblowing how similar is the structure and how different it looks. 🖤

I love learning about different cultures. It's my favorite thing. I think we should all learn about different cultures, especially if we want to visit them so we know not to appropriate the cultures. Someone's culture is NOT a costume.

Fun fact, geisha also painted their teeth black. Usually by sucking on a piece or iron which made it permanent.

Not a piece of iron, but iron acetate solution, vegetable tannins, tea or iron gall ink and it wasn’t permanent, it only lasted a few days
