Tom was the definition of cool. He wore it well. When I heard of his death i had a "breakdown". I lost my Mom, my nephew, and one of my closest friends all within a month, then to top it off we lost Tom Petty a couple weeks later. It was so much all at once. I just sat there and cried. RIP Tom Petty!

I love the music, I saw them in Oklahoma City and later in California in Yuba City at Toyota theatre, I cried also when I heard of his passing, Tom was such a great song writer and singer, he played guitar very well! Their songs and playing literally took everyone on a sensory trip! He was so talented, he made me feel I was on the trip with the group!

On "death's door"??? Seriously??? He didn't have anything death-related going on--people live for decades with emphysema, and broken hips can be replaced. No one knew he would die in 5 days. He certainly didn't know he was going to die in 5 days. He didn't PLAN to die in 5 days. Excrement happens. He ALWAYS gave all he had. Always. ♥

This song is 40 years old when he is singing it on stage. It was a hit in the late 70's when Album Rock was dying and the 80's sound and MTV was replacing it. Petty never waivered. Kept true to his style and his art and kept cranking out hits.

I was at this show & had great time, second time I saw him on the 40th anniversary tour. I noticed he was moving with some difficulty but I thought it was left over from bronchitis etc & it was such a rocking show! I go back now & I can see his pain! If only he'd have gone to the Dr rather than waiting! Thank you for that last show TPHB

If he just would have had his hip replaced or fixed, he’d still be rocking! I’ve had three hip replacements(one went bad), but the pain will subside after a couple of months, then my left knee replaced from Osteoarthritis, Tom Petty was a wonderful musician, and so were the rest of the group! His loyalty to the band was immense! Sirius Radio is a blessing for their music, I listen to the Tom Petty station daily!

I LOVE THIS SONG... ONE OF THE SONGS OF MY CHILDHOOD.. WHEN I WOULD DRIVE MY CJ-5 DOWN A SMALL TOWN ROAD IN MIDDLE AMERICA AND HAVE MY JENSEN SPEAKERS CRANKED UP ... AND MY HAIR FLYING IN THE WIND.. MY HEART FEELING LIKE ID NEVER GROW OLD.. MY EYES SAW EVERYTHING CLEARLY ... MY MIND WAS SO POWERFUL.. LIKE I WAS NEVER GONNA DIE.... AND TOM WAS THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.. EVERY MILE I DROVE HE WAS THERE... YOU WENT AWAY TO SOON TOM... THE WORLD COULD OF GOTTEN 4 MORE ALBUMS OUT OF YOU... OR MORE.. I HAD ONE CHANCE TO SEE YOU IN NYC AT THE BEACON .. AND SOME ASS HOLE SOLD ME A FAKE TICKET.. 2 OF THEM.. AND I LOST 600 BUCKS.. 300 A PIECE FOR 3 ROW CENTER OR SO I THOUGHT.. ANYWAY.. I LISTENED TO YOU THRU THE BACK WALLS OF THE THEATER ON AMSTERDAM AVE.... I HEARD YOU .. I COULDN'T SEE YOU .. BUT I HEARD FOR A FEW SONGS...

Hey Genius! I've been a petty fan since the late 70's, no where did I think or say he's a new artist, unfortunately he's gone now.
