A huge part of my life and fond memories died with Mr. Tom Petty. In 1981, my hometown longtime girlfriend and I broke up in Daytona Beach, FL, so I decided to drive to Connecticut to be with friends . Ian Hazeldine ....So many rich and famous performers "weird out". I read Tom's net worth was over 90 million. Yet he was way more down to earth than most anyone in his income bracket. That says it all to me. This man was truly unique and that was reflected in his lyrics so often. People with a couple million dollars net worth often times are so full of themselves since they have no perspective, among other issues. Meanwhile, all Tom's millions of fans love him for who he is....not his well earned money. Meanwhile, wealthy people everywhere look down their noses at the working class people who work for them, clean their hotel rooms, wait on their table at gourmet restaurants etc....too funny!

Exactly... Saw Dylan in 2010? He did not speak one damn word to the audience introduce his band NOTHING. Most superstar talents are narcissists.. but Dylan's the worst... Dave Grohl is another fantastic humble musician.. As people age their true colors stick and really show.. probably due to the inability to blame youth and ignorance as a cause for shitty behavior.

What a brilliant gig this was! A beautiful, warm London summer’s evening - Tom, Stevie and Mike weren’t just wearing shades cos they’re cool rock n’rollers, the sun was bright and dipping low. Stevie had performed a wonderful solo set and then we were treated to classic, pure Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. None of us ever knows what’s coming next. 6 weeks later Tom was dead. 2 1/2 years later we were all in lockdown. The world has changed, simple pleasures that we took for granted are all the more precious now. Enjoy the moment, it’s the only certainty we have.

Jim Rodgers I go to up to 25+ concerts a year by artists who were popular 1970-1995. Almost ALL are in better shape physically than their audiences. The guys are mostly lithe and haven’t lost a beat, just some hair or some hair pigment. The small fraction of women I go to see have found a few lbs, but that’s good - fewer wrinkles! The hardest part is seeing other audience members. The music makes me feel like I’m back in high school, but they’re bitching about my cameras, people dancing & singing along, &, yadayada. It’s a rock concert, folks! I don’t care if you’re obese, bald, gray-haired, one-legged. Relax and get into the music. HAVE FUN!

Jim Rodgers, isn't that the truth. Furthermore, I never thought rock would fade but it has. Rock's record sales now go to Beyonce, Lady Gaga, St. Vincent, Alabama Shakes, Courtney Barnett, and a slew of rappers. Kid Rock is left carrying the torch and he's close to 50.

@@GG-pd6yp I miss things, too sometimes. I don't care to watch tv, so sometimes news can be patchy. I was really sorry when Tom Petty passed. He was a good player and performer. RIP.

Awesome video man. Thanks so much for sharing this. Tom Petty will always be in our hearts for ever and ever. The songbook of our lives. I'm only 48 and was too young to even know him when he first started out. But I soon discovered what an amazing songwriter, performer, guitar player he is, was, always will be. God bless you Tom Petty. The music will never die.

Tom Petty, ‘well what am I supposed to do?’ Your music raised me. You said it, ‘from back in Florida...’. You, of all musicians to die. You could do no wrong. Your music alone, can bring down anyone’s blood pressure. Such a laid back band. Sweet, Stevie Nicks. Heard of a little thing happening between you two. She’s an amazing lady. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers from Gainesville... ‘out on 441.’ We are very proud of your accomplishments. The band from Florida. No matter, at any age, you are proud of an amazing band from your home state. Gainesville is just 35 miles from me, at this time. My love to you, thank you for all the entertainment you gave me throughout my younger years. As hard as it is to know you have moved on, it’s very hard to believe. I’m going to go there, not knowing your family, ‘I’m so sorry for their loss. Wife, and children. Your friends. I don’t believe the right to give peace, solitude, and offering my ‘thoughts and prayers,’ to your precious family. They have it however, I don’t believe that a famous rock star family cares about hearing or reading about what a fan says about their husband or dad. I’m offering empty words to them bc they are heavily pained, consumed even more with their own grief at this time to care about how an honest fan is feeling. Thank you for sharing your precious husband and father to a fan, and I know how much it hurts to suddenly have that feeling of loss, a void you now have because Tom Petty is not home, calling home to tell you he loves you and will see you soon. Believe this fan, Tom Petty will always be giving of himself, selflessly, even in death. He was truly a remarkable man and wrote beautiful music and shared that amazing music with his fans who love him and will forever miss him. Angie

They don't need her to take them under her wings.......Mike Campbell played briefly with Fleetwood but he's got his own band for 12 yrs now, before Tom died, and he'd play with THBs, Fleetwood, and his own band. Mike & his band recently cut their own album, 'Wreakless Abandon'.
