Tom and the band ... so real. So hungry. What an amazing first couple of albums. Most bands could have stopped there. So glad they didn't.

Saw them in 1976 at the Roxy theater in Pacific Beach for one dollar, I was absolutely blown away Saw them at the Greek on his last go around, it was good to see, in their older state, they hadn't lost a thing, in fact I believe they had gotten even better. RIP Tom Petty

What kind of world are we living in, where this has under 1000 views and Justin Bieber has a vid with over 635,000,000 views? Taste no longer sells...

I first heard this song in a taxi on the radio, the slide was speaking to me. I asked the driver to turn it up 3 times until finally loud enough

Steve Meyer You're so right, the slide on the album recording is completely awesome. Some very tasty licks. All around great job from Mike!

dggydddy59 yes I love this live recording but the album version as you confirmed has a will of it's own.

One of my all time favorite slide guitar breaks. Mike Campbell nails it. Pretty sure he learned slide from watching Duane Allman in the early years in Gainesville and Jacksonville. I even think he used a Coricidin bottle for slide like Duane did.

Anyone have any idea what the "strangered" was about......while Tom obviously sung "strangers".....? Must've seem like a typo from record company staff , since the "D" sits too snug (for some)next to the "S"......
@futurelama51236 жыл бұрын
PaulLonden this is possibly a rumor but I heard it was about a bar shooting petty had seen I'm not sure
@shirgar99495 жыл бұрын
It's definitely called "Strangered in the night" as you can hear in the introduction.
@codywhite963 жыл бұрын
was indeed a record company typo and when Tom saw the label he liked it and went with it when introducing the song. He always introduced it as Strangered but always sang Strangers. A little thing to throw people off a bit.
