Yes 5-7 sets squats + leg extensions altogether like that, BUT there's a catch. Platz would only do legs once every couple of weeks. That's how much recovery was needed after a gnarly leg day.

I will probably get a lot of shit because I'm no one against "THE" Tom Platz. But, if you're natural you should probably not go all the way to failure from set one, it seems like a shortcut to snap city, or below average training, because there is no way you'll be rested enough to do 6 more qualitative sets. 5 to 7 sets is normal for Leg Extension, 15 to 30 reps as well, but that whole partial repping to milk those quads on set number one is hella too much, that's the kind of stuff to be done in the lasts set not the first one. I think the dude in the video just did this set and was cooked, and it was a sorta demo of what you should do more than a real first set. Lastly, there is few control, eccentric is overlooked, it's cutting you off a lots of potential gains. Just my two cents.
@Kuplpa5 ай бұрын
The reason he goes all out on every set no matter if its the first or very last set is because he isn't there to save his energy. Also you would need to be a mad man to do this level of effort on all 5 sets. I think that with anything in life quality > quanity so doing multiple sets not to failure maybe (nobody really knows), is worse than less sets, but to failure is better.

why - oh why- oh why would anyone trying to build muscle and strength burn this much energy doing "USELESS" leg extensions after squatting? this man just burned all this energy that he needs to recuperate and grow. after squats, get the hell out of the gym and go home and EAT. squats - deadlifts - rack pulls - pressing dumbells and barbells in a flat, incline or upright position -bent over rows - t-bar rows. "LOADED CARRIES". basic compound movements are what lead to stimulating muscle growth. not "USELESS" crap like leg extensions, leg curls, standing and seated calf raises, flys, cable crossovers, tricep pressdowns and tricep kickbacks, shoulder laterals, sit ups, leg raises, and before i forget, twists with a broomstick and all types of curls. any type of pulling hits the biceps. rows, rows, and more rows will build great biceps. taking a day or two off after each workout - and above all - keeping oneself in a calorie surplus. 50-60% carbs - 20% protein -20% fat. physiologically - all human beings are the same. our bodies are approximately 75% water. carboHYDRATE - GET IT? ask yourselves - if we were all so different, how could doctors make a diagnosis? how could doctors prescribe medicines? its the supplement companies who started the HOAX of needing more and more protein as a sales ploy to sell more and more protein supplements. go on a high protein - low carb diet and the same thing will happen to every human being walking the face of the earth. kiss muscle and strength goodbye. With all due respect MR. PLATZ, this man seems to think that you have now given him the "SECRET" to building a great set of legs. i'll bet that you could sell him some ocean front property in KANSAS. you're correct about high intensity training, but this man could become so 'OVERTRAINED", that he might eventually need a month off from the gym just to recuperate. he'll eventually realize that he has been mislead. the real "SECRET" to building muscle and strength is everything i've stated in this comment. tell me where i'm wrong MR, PLATZ, you can't, its not even debateable. its called "CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS", when it comes to building muscle and strength - its something that you still seem to lack after all your years in the game. oh, and by the way, isn't free speech great? have a nice day.

@AntonGson6 жыл бұрын
Don S lol why u need a picture of his physique when all he Said was true, i don’t know about flyes and tricep pushdowns being useless but it’s obviously not as important as compound movements
@dons6346 жыл бұрын
Anton Gustavsson because showing us a picture of his physique means he might have some idea of what he’s talking about. Plenty of bodybuilding champions have used both compounds and isolation exercises to great effect. You will never truly isolate a muscle group doing compounds only. Think of your arm muscles, sure pull-ups and bench presses will target your arms to some extent, but you will never develop great arms without curls.

That guy is soft ngl 😂 there’s no need to drop that weight it’s just an excuse he wants to stop 😂 I do these sets with double this weight almost full stack, like 12-16 reps with almost full stack, then 3 plates down, like 10 more reps, then 3 plates down again like +10 more reps again, maybe a short break in the set for 5 seconds cause it’s really f*ing your brains, but to let the weight drop like that is such nonsense, when the weight is that low you can end the reps slow trust me it will burn you down but it’s worth it, dropping the weight like that is just soft and takes away a lot of pain / gainz, in the end you can’t be able to push the weight up fully and your whole body is shaking, that’s what I call a good set of this leg excercise
