There's some bacteria which produce toxins under anaerobic conditions, so if any of those get trapped in an airtight pocket of food that doesn't contain oxygen AND they can survive/reproduce in that food (depends e.g. on the pH) AND they can withstand the high temperatures the resin goes through during the curing process, that could lead to whatever food is trapped in that pocket to turn toxic. This is just a hypothesis of mine though, I don't know if there actually are bacteria which would meet all of these conditions in real life.

When I saw the open ketchup bottle in your hand I thought: Dont squeeze the open bottle Nick! And immediately the ketchup went into your face. Thx. I needed that giggle. I didnt know before that ketchup contains so much oil. Come to think of it this explains why ketchup is such a high calorie stuff. Something new learned today from Nick my favorite funny woodturner. I guess the tomato turned orange and the oil black since the resin gets so hot. Me mom and grandma always said: Never play with food. That may be the reason why this project is not really my cup of tea. Which is unusual. Normally I like your projects and experiments/thinking out of the box. Stays healthy and take care.

The bowl is really neat. I was hoping you would just leave the ketchup swirl floating in the resin. I can’t remember dude’s name who did two videos with household items to color resin, but check it out. I want you to do yellow mustard, turmeric! They would be really pretty!!!

Would be interesting to see how it would’ve turned out without the dye/pigment though. But regardless, this is the quality content I expect from KZbin 👌🏻 Best ketchup choice as well! Heinz is definitely the only way to go (it’s the little things ya know?) Maybe mustard bowl next? 😉🤞🏻

This is really funny because I was in my kitchen and I was looking at my ketchup and I told my self. I wonder if I use a small amount in resin and then as I was watching someone make a pretty resin peice as I finished the video I scroll down and I see you doing something with ketchup I had to watch. I like it. How does it still looks? My grandkids want me to put all kinds of crazy things and you know how kid's are they come up with the most unusual things. This is so cool.

You should have a bowl of clear resin then mix up some colored resin and inject it into the clear while moving it around the sides randomly so you get strings of color in the edges of the bowl.

The resin and ketchup are incompatible (immiscible) since ketchup has some water and oil. They form a sort of emulsion at first ... under pressure, the oily portion coalesces and the exothermicity of the resin reaction cooks...(fries in oil) ....and burns the tomato and turns it black. Interesting effects if exploited to achieve max funnnnkiness! 🤗🤗🤗. The same thing that happened with the live plants that you placed in resin (water still present which caused the funky bubbling and the once living plant to be burned in the resin)-- but boy the finished orb was GORGEOUS!!!😍😍😍😍😍. Basically, any time you mix something that is not dry in water incompatible resin, you will get voids and pitting ( if the resin fully cures), and putting live plants in a highly exothermic or heat producing resin will cause darkening and perhaps burning. In some cases, the presence of water can cause the reaction mixture to heat to even higher temperatures. --Chemistry professor here ✊🏽addicted to ur channel!!!👩🏽‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬.
